Battery for my CA SL8

I just purchased the Classic Army SL8 and have yet to order a battery for it. I'm not quite sure the best size for it and seeing as how some of you guys know a little about the G36 series, maybe you could help me. I'm wanting a quality battery (price not an issue) that'll fit in the handguard of the gun. I know it takes mini type, and nunchuck types (mini), but which would fit my gun best? I would prefer something a little nicer than standard, generic batteries, and one with lots of "MAHs." Thanks in advance!

ok....seabass of course has the g36 and i have watched him change out the battery and i have to say....have fun:) probably the biggest complaint(and only one for that matter) i can think of for the g36 series. changing out the batteries is a pain that takes a while to get used to. he has the mini type rather than nunchuch.

the point of this msg though....is do you need to worry too much about MAH's being a sniper? you shouldnt be shooting that much my friend:) i would recommend a 9.6 or 10.4 for you if you are planning to get higher fps like i believe you are...but it may be tough finding a battery to fitt those extra cells. im guessing and dont completely take my advice without finding support of this that you should go with a nunchuck style to allow for the higher voltage and still fit.

ps....great choice on going with the ca8.....i think it is my favorite looking gun period:) i wish i woulda got it instead of the mp5...though i love the mp5

You make a good point about not needing a lot of MAHs, simply because I won't be firing a lot of rounds. But what I'm thinking of is a battery that'll last me for tournaments with long durations (8+ hours), and allow me in the case of a heated battle to flip the gun into full-auto and use it more as a support weapon Smile

I get paranoid about things like battery-life during tournaments and I want a dying battery to be the last thing on my mind. I guess it's more for me mentally than an actual need for the gun Smile

I will be getting at least a 9.6v though, most likely nunchuck style as you recommended. And thank you for the compliments on the gun. (We'll have to switch guns sometime during practice so you can get a feel for it.)

By the way, this should go in the "Clothing/Accessories/Gear section." My bad Smile

Well let me start of by saying this... if you are going for a high FPS sniper (like 420fps+), you will have to permanently disable the full auto because once you hit 401 FPS(some fields differ) you have to be semi auto only. So you will have to change the selector plate. If you are going to put an M130+ spring in your gun, which should put you over 400fps, you should probably look into getting a 10.8v instead of a 9.6v, because it will take more voltage for the motor to push the spring.
Second, if you only plan to go up to about 400fps, leave the selector alone and get a 9.6v mini type battery with about a 1200mah (they dont get much higher than that due to size). You will want to carry a second battery with you for larger events, even though I doubt you will need it. The other option is to get a battery pouch and get whatever type you want (I would recommend a Large 9.6v/4000ish mah if you do this). If you get a Large type, you will also need a large to mini adaptor.

The main thing you have to decide is how much FPS you want to make... for instance if you have an M140+ spring you will use more battery because the motor has to work more to push the spring. With an M120 or less you wont notice a huge decrease in battery life and it wont stress your internals nearly as much. If it were me, I would just shoot for 400fps at first and if you decide you need more FPS then upgrade to a new battery.

Awesome. Well I'm perfectly happy firing at, or a little under, 400 fps for now. I also don't want to have to turn off the full-auto capabilities right now, but possibly in the future.

What do you guys think about this?

That is a pretty good looking battery in my opinion. Stormtrupr and I both have batteries from Airsoft-smtih similar to that and they have worked great for us.

By the way, I think you are REALLY wise to just be happy with 400fps range. You will notice that you can still get some pretty good range with .23's & .25's. You also wont have to worry about your internals needing upgraded right away... which is going to save you some serious cash. bounce

I agree. I'm thinking the 1500 MAH and then possibly an 1100 MAH (NiMH of course). I wish the gun could handle li-poly Smile

But anyway, I'd hope the 2,600 MAHs could last me through an entire day of airsoft. If not, there's always the WE 5.1 Hi-capa.

I think it would be more than enough if you plan to stick under 400fps. Your motor will push the spring pretty easy with a 9.6v on it. I would guess you may run out on the 1500mah after maybe 5-6 hours of play... being a sniper you wont be shooting much compared to riflemen, support, etc...
To give you an idea, last year at BF4 my CA36c went through about 800 shots and didnt run out of battery on a 9.6v 1800mah battery. If you shoot more than that, you shouldnt be a sniper! Laughing

I would say it is a wise idea to carry an extra battery out on the field with you though, because you never know. It isnt a huge deal, because chances are I will have my charger with me no matter where we play... all you have to do is hook it up to a car battery and it will charge up a mini in about 10-12 minutes. So if you ran completely out you could always just walk off the field, recharge and come back in. Although, it is a lot of fun to run around with just a pistol... or in your case, a hand cannon. cheers

Ha. Well my mind's made up then. I'll be getting that 1500 MAH and another 1100 MAH. I won't be getting them for about a week though, so if anyone finds a good deal before then, let me know!!
