Just commenting. I think that avatars should be airsoft related. What do you guys think?
I think that when there not it pollutes the forum and makes it look untidy.

I agree that avatars should be airsoft related, but I'll really only say something to a member if their avatar is either offensive or overly distracting. Ragnarock: I'd say your avatar is close enough Smile

I disagree.

Wikipedia defines an avatar as "the graphical representation of a user". A picture of replicas is in my opinion not a representation of myself. It's a representaion of my gun. My avatars tend to be a something that shows my personality, or a way i would like to be portrayed. Be it true or not, I mean for all anyone knows i could b a 10 year old girl on the other end of a computer. However, i agree they should lean more towards airsoft.

I don't think they need to be air soft related. As long as they aren't inappropriate, i like the see funny avatars, i think they brighten up the forum.

e i agree with DK, look at Airsoftohio.com , i dont think it looks unorganized or sloppy at all and they dont have Avatar restrictions. even Arniesairsoft.co.uk doesnt have avatar restrictions and they are undoubtedly the best airsoft forum (and the biggest) on the internet.

just my thought

It's the ones that are flashing and say something like "Do you have epilepsy" on it that are too much for a forum, in my opinion. There's also another one that says to hold a certain combination of keys on your keyboard to view their avatar, or something similar to that. And in actuality the combination shuts down your computer and causes a few complications with it. I'm fine with avatars not being airsoft related, but some go a little too far and aren't appropriate for a public forum as this one.

i agree completely, on another airsoft forum one of the vets has a pic of some Wolfs doin it in the woods.... that has no relatively cept for the fact that he prob thought it was funny. i dont think avatars should be restricted just to airsoft but they should def follow the Forum rules of posting,ie. no politics, language, etc etc. but i think if we restrict it to airsoft then it would be overstepping its boundaries. but then again its your site ADMIN, you have to make the deceicion.

I agree that they should follow the forum rules, definitely. However, one thing I would like to point out is that I really want this site to be everybody's site. That may sound too idealistic, but I want my job here to be simply making sure the forum is up and running, no-one is being too rude or offensive, and to manage all the work (along with my mods) that goes into running a forum so someone else doesn't have to.

Make sure that I don't make any decisions that aren't agreed upon by the majority of the site, EVER! That would be going against one of my top rules - no politics! Smile I've seen that happen way too often on other airsoft forums! But, I do thank you for showing me the respect anyway Wink

Yeah, nice burn and nice point DK. I will now have to endorse these exceptions with DK while also siding with ADMIN. In closing, avatars are fine if they sum up the personality or relate to airsoft as long as they aren't distracing and pointless.
