| im a DM, when i first started i got the medic role at every game i went to. ive saved over 200 airsofters
now im trying to decide if i should continue the DM thing/be a squad leader(if my peoples start a team) or a spotter(if my sniper needs one).
i think that article is too broad. like it should have more classes. and the classes are kinda wak and broad themselves. if you are starting DO NOT try to be a support gunner. it just doesnt work if people dont know how to do it, or if their misguided on what they are supposed to be doing as a support gunner(this also goes for the sniper role) rifleman is the exact definition of a DM almost, the only one that sorta is right is "assualt rifleman" which i dont consider a class but it is usually the more ballsy rifleman. i would say that a rifleman is the basic infantry, it is good to start here if you are new, they make up the core airsoft group, they dont have a specialty but they can usually fill in for the other specialty players if needed, these people are the most diverse on the field. the posters sniper catogory is almost correct, snipers are never with a squad (if they are dedicated), snipers can be very effective offensive tools, they usually have to infiltrate enemy lines to do something, they dont mind not taking any shots during a game, they can navigate well(must), they can read maps well(must) and they must be very patient.
i think there should be other classes too, like medic, scout, DM, CO(commanding officer, 2ic(2nd in command or XO) but ther wise it was OK

| Well I answered yes to most of the questions and I have the following weapon types available to me: -Rifleman (CA36, AK, M14) -Grenadier (AK w/M203) -DMR (M14 if I wanted to - have all the parts, none are installed) -Sniper (JG Bar 10) *Support gunner- All I need is a C-mag and a bipod to make my CA36 into an MG36
I guess the test works, eh?
To be honest, I am best as a rifleman armed with my trusty CA36. Being a squad leader also seems to work out for me as I like to get into the action and accomplish missions. Plus I am not all that pushy... so if somebody wants to do something else i will figure out a way to make that part of the strategy.
The one thing that should have been on that website that wasnt... and it really seems to be falling off the chart in airsoft is a team Medic. Used to be a more popular role and honestly I think it is good to have somebody that plays specifically to keep your team alive. They generally are CQB oriented and carry smaller AEG's as well as gas operated weapons. Sometimes shotty's... just depends on the player.
I agree with Sticks on new players shouldnt be Support gunners... #1 it costs a lot more and #2 they wont really develop skills that are necessary to develop as a player that they would develop as a rifleman, sniper, etc...
Thats my 2 cents. _________________ Classic Army MG36 - 2500 rounds of pure fury. Echo 1 Vector Arms AK - 400 FPS JG Bar 10 G-Spec - 520 FPS ICS M4 CQB - 325 FPS (Perfect for close encounters) |

| im a sniper, marksman or scout. i like to work alone or with my spotter interupting troop movements. but sometimes i sit 200ft away from the enemy base and report troops movement and defense positions. and from time to time i get my boots wet and take accuracy and range to the front line. _________________ Abandon all hope, yea who crosses me

| I love playing with a good scout that reports movement on the field... you have no idea how valueable that is to the "team effort"!!! _________________ Classic Army MG36 - 2500 rounds of pure fury. | I am not really a sniper I am an assassin because I take out special members of the other team and some times I lead and train a group of wet behind the ears snipers and the rest of the time I am just a normal sniper but most of the time I am an assassin taking commanding officers quad leaders and some times other snipers depends n what I am called in the line of duty to do _________________ The Sniper Of Airsoft , Unseen , Unheard , Underappriciated . .

| Im pretty new to airsoft and have yet to go to an airsoft event yet, I only have a pistol at the moment, but I would say Id make a kicka** support fire (not gunner) or spotter. I work pretty well under pressure (in general), do a lot better when Im given orders instead of dishing them out, i don't mind staying in one spot for awhile, and I know Id love the feeling of knowing your the reason another teammate is still standing _________________ git it, got it, GOOD

Ummm.... kind of sounds like you just described one of the roles of a sniper over an "assassin." I'm not even sure assassins exist in airsoft.
Definitions: Assassin: One who is motivated by political reasons or money to intentionally kill a particular person.
Sniper: A person using long-range arms for precise attacks from a concealed position.
But I get what you mean. I think you mean you typically choose the single role of killing squad leaders/medics/VIPs/etc. that is the job of a sniper, over the other roles a sniper typically has which includes infantry harassment, recon, etc. _________________ Never hesitate to PM me or one of my mods if you have any questions or issues! | I am a sniper all the way, I just like to lie down 200 feet away from the actual war in a spot i can't be seen or shot, But i can see and shoot everyone else, And i have a heck of a lot of fun doing it. Here is the gun i just ordered. By time the you read this i might have it. http://www.airsplat.com/Items/GR-WELL-MB1-G22.htm My primary backup is a 5 dollar pistol that I can't believe it still has not broken its so cheap, So i need to stay away from close range shooting unless someone is charging dead at me with a AEG bigger then my sniper rifle. |

| | I am sniper too but. When i use a ghillie i never hit the target even with steady, maybe becouse i have too much plants on the eyes. When this happens i probably change to Assault on the assault ones we make strategic plans like 4 sniper 2 for left and 2 for right assault 8 4 left 4 right well and them the sniper guys distract the enemy and them the Assault ones go prone and start moving, nobody sees them and when they reach the enemy`s base they go up again and start shooting. and well this is my strategic plan. Make sure your barrel too is not being obstructed by leaves and plants. Its nothing like a real bullet. |
