Heya guys - This may be a commonly asked question, but here goes.

Afew of my friends do airsofting already, and im really starting to get interested. All three of them mostly play assault with the usual M4's and such, but i have really really taken a liking to the idea of sniping. Now, i have read up a "Watch your language" of alot on airsofting and airsoft sniping, and i know that alot of it, is not shooting, and alot of it is not combat based. I am completely fine with this, i enjoy the concept of learning to camo properly, and learning the battlefield and anticipating enemies moves.

In an thread i read recently on a different website, someone said that many new airsofters are drawn to the idea of sniping straight away, and then go on to find it boring, and want to switch roles, my friends completely agree with this. Though having already read up alot on what sniping involves i do not think i am jumping straight in and immediately thinking, its going to be, lie down, be invisable, and nail every single enemy that walks past.

So do you guys have any tips of what i should do next?

P.s A friend who is also starting with me (we have known each other most of our lives) agree'd to being a spotter for me and liked the idea of us working together, because we know eachother extremely well.

Briss

Like you said many new people are drawn to the idea of sniping but it is nothing like most people think. Your best bet is probably to get some sort of JG or Echo1 AEG and play a few games like that so you get the hang of it. After you feel comfortable with that you get a sniper rifle unless you like the option of full auto. If you have your dead set on getting a sniper rifle though a good one to start out with is a JG BAR-10, UTG L96 (MK96), or even a TSD M700.

if there is anyone who is a sniper localy ask for a try sniping with his rifle for a game.

The spotter is a great idea if you have good com. This is good for a new sniper to take their time getting into this. Get a;
bi-pod
good scope
Make a;
ghuille suit (Optional)
hide area(IF you are playing in same area over and over)(Optional)

AND TAKE YOUR TIME 100%

Just 1K???

Only kidding, Depending on the gun I would think the average is more like 12 to 1500.

Same here. When I first started looking into airsoft I thought I wanted to be a sniper. So I played a few games as rifleman and immediatly fell in love with the idea of run n' gun. So I became a rifleman and enjoy it a lot. But recently one of buddys let me borrow there sniper and try it out for a round or to. Then I realized snipping was awsome! Although I only got 1 kill it was just so much fun stalking the enemy and waiting for that perfect shot then finnaly being able to take it and hearing the enemy call "OUT". What I think you should do is borrow a friends assualt rifle and try it out for a few games and see how you like it and so you can get the fell for the game. If your looking for a sniper I personally like semi-auto snipers like the SR-25 or the M14 I like semi-auto better because you never have to take your eye out of the scope to pull the bolt back. BUT most snipers I know stick to bolt-action these are good but there not for me. Some of the bolt-action snipers bolts are hard to pull back wasteing time so you might not get that pretty shot. Unless its a gas bolt action which I wouldent recomend becuase depending on the weather your gas might not do its job. Below are snipers I belive are good for a beginner. Let me know if this was helpful and what your final decision is!

i started as a sniper too. the first rifle i ever bought is the rifle that today has 500 dollars worth of upgrades in it (that i still use).
so to me if your interested and you can find a cheap rifle why not start a sniper

a few tips. trees look good to a new sniper but rarely pay off, as in you get there you shoot at or hit a guy then his friends shoot you because climbing a tree is easier than climbing down a tree.

also remeber as a sniper your only advantage is range, ive made the mistake alot of getting just plane to close and geting lite up by an AEG

put paint on your ears and kneck, i can't recount how many times ive been in the feild and seen a sniper with face piant on but he forgot his ears and kneck
