The Four-Man Fireteam Empty
PostSubject: The Four-Man Fireteam   The Four-Man Fireteam Icon_minitimeTue May 26, 2009 1:55 am

If information on using the Four-Man Fireteam already exists on the forum, please let me know. let's get started.

it is often advisable to use the Four-Man Stack approach, also known as the Four-Man Fireteam. it offers great coverage and makes teamwork essential. the four postions in the Four-Man Stack are: Team Lead, Automatic Rifleman, Grenadier, and Rifleman. the Team Lead (TL) always heads up the stack, with the Automatic Rifleman (AR) second in the stack. the Grenadier (G) is third in the stack, and the Rifleman (R) is last. when the team reaches a corner, the TL will check to see if the corner is clear. if there are contacts, TL will call them out, and he and AR will lean around the corner and attempt to neutralize the contacts. when the team moves hot (meaning weapons at the ready), TL covers forward, AR covers right, G covers left, and R covers the rear. this will help you maintain 360-degree protection. when entering rooms, three soldiers, normally AR, G, and R, will stack on the left side of the door. TL will be on the right. when the team is ready, TL will open the door and AR, G, and R will move in. the first man, in this case, AR, will move in straight and maintain forward awareness. G will move into the left and maintain the team's left side. R will move to the right, and maintain the team's right side. TL will then move in and cover 360-degrees until the room is considered cleared.

those are the basics of operating in a Four-Man Fireteam.

Yes this is very good in almost all situations if you can get everybody to coperate together. I see this best as working in an urban type of game or in CQB might be a little tricky in woodland because of all the brush and the fallen logs and that stuff. It would just be hard to keep the position. But.............

Yeah this works but sometimes if your like me I get bored very fast and I need to shoot at something. I tend to leave my squad (not the best chioce I know) because we can't find anybody I go running around until I get the enemys attention. Then I get into some hot water because im out numbered but its all in good fun.

I agree with Storm. It would work well in CQC, but would be difficult in a forest situation because of roots, branches etc.

May I remind all of you that the 4-man fireteam is not a cure-all. It MUST be refined and personalized before use im ANY situation. The info Jarher posted is not a 'how-to'...its a template, guideline, and is supposed to be enterpreted differently for different terrain and situations. SOF (Size Of Force), loadouts, and experience MUST be factored in before a successful fireteam can be deployed effectively. Being in a fireteam does not mean you all stay together at all times. In fact, tight grouping is typically unfavorable. As I said: work, refine, practice, and combine...the keys to deploying a fireteam in any situation.

this tactic works best in qcb i would add a few tornado grenades for the old bang and clear it can buy the breach element a few vital seconds to get through the door and fanout..bunching up is very bad.
in the woods opt for a wedge or line formation spaced about 15 to 20ft apart..
keep the team leader and support gunner in the middle to better support the entire team and make command easer...

i've been thinking of using the 4 man fireteam for both cqb and forest just to see how it pans out. Like everyone has said i think it'll work better in cqb but its worth a shot in the forest.

it can work in the forest, but you must adapt. the four-man fireteam is not a magical fix-everything tactic. you must learn how to adapt it to your situation before you are rewarded. you must have good teamwork before you can use it, though. THE FOUR-MAN FIRETEAM IS ALL ABOUT TEAMWORK! i can't stress that enough.
