Hi everyone,

I'm pretty much new to this forum and I must say, its a good place to learn everything about airsoft!

I do have a question though, I have a KWA Tactical and added a JBU silencer on it. I have a DB TB installed (384mm) but I wanted to get a longer barrel. My problem is I'm very doubtful on the length. I plan on getting a 509 mm but I'm afraid that it might stick out. I made measurements on the length of the outer barrel + the silencer. It's about 20 inches (500mm). And some people do not suggest cutting a TB. What do you guys think????

I have cut a stock E1 barrel so that it would fit in a custom job of mine. I would say if you can avoid it DO NOT cut it yourself. A friend and I hooked one end to a drill so that it would spin fast and accurately and oiled the other end as it slid through a pipe cutter. We slowly tightened the cutter until the barrel was cut down. It was a long process and we were very careful, but still the end that was cut was smashed down enough that it stopped BBs when they went through. I would say that we did a fairly good job.

The moral of this story is that my barrel was a stock E1 barrel. I would therefore caution anybody on cutting a precision barrel even if they were skilled. If you can buy it that length do so... if you could have the retailer cut it for you I would go ahead and do that so you wont have to worry about screwing it up.

what size is the silencer. its pretty simple actually. add the silencer length to you current barrel length. IE. my barrel was normally a stock M4 length(365mm) and i added a 200mm silencer, which totals to be 563. so i went with a custom cut PSG1 barrel (the 590 one not the 650). i could have gone with a Sig 550 barrel(550mm) but they were out. don't cut your own barrels have a airsmith do it for you. the reason most people say that they suck is because they don't refinish the end of their barrels once the cut them. you can't just cut a barrel and leave the end refinished. most airsmiths should know how to do this.

goos luck

Thanks for the info! I have to measure this right. Its kinda tricky though. The JBU mock silencer I got has the ccw thread half way in it. So the outer barrel slides ALMOST all the way into it. If I measure from the tip of the silencer all the way to the front of the receiver, its about 19 3/4 inches. But I know the inner barrel goes into the receiver a little bit. Should I just get a 500 mm or a 509 mm inner barrel? The 509 mm is a lot easier to get, but I could call DB Customs for the 500 mm one.

get the 509mm barrel. if it is over a little then i would have someone cut it, its just less hassle.

BTW i was wondering what your groupings are with your M4? ive been looking into the DBC barrels for a project gun that i have. thanks

I haven't tested it myself but according to DB Customs:

"With our new inner barrel in a stock Classic Army M15A4 carbine (14.25" length) we have velocity improvements of 20-25 feet per second and accuracy improvements of 2-3" groups at 25 yards, with the hop-up unit turned off! Use in actual games and events has shown increased range of up to 1/3 more then stock!"

I'm sorry I haven't tested it myself and I can't confirm their claim. Crying or Very sad
I have a game this sunday, I will try it then and I will let you know!

By the way, here's their website.

www.deescustoms.com

Note: They only accept phone orders! You have to go to a retailer like www.airsoftgi.com for online orders.
