| Hi I'm new here and I'm getting a KJW 1911A1 soon and I wanna know how to take care of it. Any replies are appreciated
I've mainly stuck to using co2 pistols as sidearms but after having a TSD 1911 give up on me and two other weapons have leaking mags. I think I'm gonna go on to spending more on a gas blowback. I've looked at vids and threads on how to take care of one (and also helped a friend clean and lube his HFC Beretta Cougar) so I'd like to think I know what I'm doing but I'm worried that I will mess something up so I just wanted to know if I have everything right.
I use UTG silicone spray to clean the gun. I spray all moving parts and along the rails of the slide and a small piece in the rear of the slide, in the middle, I forget what it is called.
To clean I spray some on a Q-tip and wipe down the innards of the gun and go over it with a paper towel. I then do the standard procedure for cleaning the barrel.
To take care of the magazine I spray some silicone onto a Q-tip or paper towel and run it through the track of the mag where the BB's are held. I then spray a little bit of UTG silicone spray onto the 3 ports in the mag(again the names escape me). The on bottom , the one on the back, and the one on top all get a quick spritz. I then put in some green gas in the mag before storing.
After this I re-assemble the pistol and run it through the action a few times before taking a paper towel and wiping down the gun of any silicone that might've slipped through onto the frame of the gun.
Am I doing all of this right or am I messing something up or forgetting an aspect of the process. I'm getting the KJW soon and wanna make sure I can adequately maintain the gun | |

| Everything you do seems fine, BUT I suggest not using Q-tips or paper towels because they often leave behind tiny fibers that could potentially stunt your gun's performance. Otherwise, you're doing everything else correctly, I believe.

| I'm fairly certain that for the slide and the internals of the pistol, you'll want silicone grease or white lithium grease instead of silicone oil. Only use silicone oil for the barrel, hopup, and mag. A microfiber cleaning cloth would be better than paper towels and Q-tips. | |

| If you're using green gas, you may be overlubing the replica, which does happen. I like to use propane in my magazines and then every fifth mag or so, I run green gas through it. When I clean the replica, I use P Force silicone and just apply it to all the moving parts. I've yet to have a problem with it. | |
