A list of things that I thought were funny, in a depressing manner. (hurray for oxymorons!)

-That I live on a street that branches off to Nowhere Lane

-That the hobos in my town got scared off by the townpeople

-And that if you aren't wearing a ball-cap and farmcoat in my town then your weird

just some things I decided to "complain" about. My town is obviously freaking awesome.

Now, please share something unique about your town!

I used to live Memphis, Tennessee, and well...you might get the picture.

Also I won't exactly be living here, but I'm moving to Sidney, Australia soon to finish off college!

-Snoop Dog lives in a mega-house a block away from me with a Bentley parked in his driveway, yet I struggle to pay rent.
-The majority of cops in my area are washouts from the LAPD. There are a number of them that were dismissed from that department or "sent" here as punishment.
-You can be fined $500 per day for leaving your trashcan on the curb after garbage pickup day in my city.

I'm sure I'll think of more.

On the bright side, we had a double rainbow yesterday. Everything looks so beautifully green right now Smile

I thought of some more.

- On the first day of school for our high-school (sorry for repetitiveness) the loudspeaker comes on to tell all students with gunracks on their cars or trucks to please stow them out of sight.

- The first day of hunting season is a school holiday.

- The cops are more likely to be causing a disturbance of the peace than investigating one.

- When I tell people where I live they always say, "Right, and where's that?"

- There are no other people under 30 in a 5 mile radius of my house. (could be a negative or positive I guess)

I'll probably think of even more later.

Also, thank you Durkee for being the first person to actually "respond"

@Drummerboyz95
Sorry, i just thought yours didn't REALLY qualify. No offense meant.
It wasn't really a quirky thing, it was just a fact... Again, no hard feelings.

-The city I live in is surrounded by the Capital City of WI, yet I have to take a 45 minute bus ride out to my school... and I pass 4 on the way.

-We allow people to keep chickens in their backyard.

-A Potato Cannon (This is litterally the law) does not qualify as a firearm, and is therefor legal to fire in City Limits.

-One morning (5:45 in the morning) I was pulled over on my bike for blowing a stoplight that a car blew just before me and, get this, speeding. Oh yes, he had radared a biker. That's what happens when there's no traffic in sight.

-If it's above 35 degrees, all the windows are open on our bus, and everyone is wearing t-shirts.

-We make fun of people that wear coats. Even if there's snow on the ground.

-One summer, they had to post a cop permenately at a school, because we all used to airsoft in the woods behind it.

* this week we had 5 cop cars in our High school's parking lot, suspected drugs

* Also there, we have had a sweep of the school for drugs, they only checked the lockers, if they checked the students there would be many arrests

* All sports players have been cleared by the school's liaison officer from under age drinking, and vandalism

Wow, it was all about our HS? I'll get more about other things later Smile Welcome to the most screwed up highschool in all of WI!

My school is basically a football school and a couple years back the coaches would persuade the administration into changing the grades of a few of the "star" players so they could stay on the team.

City's top employers are the county/government, health care agency, school district, hospital, community college, and city. That could be the norm but I never really thought about it much.

Unique facts about my hometown? Let's see:

-The area around here has the best housing/real estate market in the country.
-After Griffiss AFB closed, the area's economy crashed and turned two neighboring cities (Utica, Rome) into awful places.
-We are the birthplace of the Half-Moon cookie. (Half vanilla frosting, half chocolate frosting).
-Our county has the highest amount of school districts in the entire state (I can't quantify it, but the number's ridiculous).
-Drunk college kids sometimes end up on my lawn (I live next to a campus).

-In my town once you get old enough to hangout in bars you will recieve a awesome nikname from the one and only "Andy Bear"

-If you don't wave while driveing in town we get REALLY mad at you.

-My HS has near 250 students from 6-12 and we had the highest test scores in MN last year.

-Every friday theres a competition who can kill the most animals while road hunting.

-Our role models in school are always the ones with the loudest and most BA pickup.

-If you drive a Ford you are a minority and are pranked relentlessly.

-Drinking and Driving is a hobby to us.

-The amount of Alc. that passes through my Dads body could kill anyone not Irish.

-The closest McDonalds is 20 miles away.

-Snowmobile races are sometimes held outside the school.

-Driving a 4-wheeler, 3-wheeler, Dirt Bike, Lawn Mower, Horse, Snowmobile, and Semi Truck to school are not uncommon at all.

Every one of these is the truth... Anyone got anything similar...

Almost the same here, just minus the snow related stuff. Very Happy

Hurray for red neck towns!

School holiday on opening day of a hunting season is the greatest thing I have ever heard.

The Opener of deer season last year two of my friends got their parents to write notes saying they were excused to go deer hunting...... and when those two go hunting it entails driving Balls to the Wall through ditches(for reals) in reverse trying to catch as many deer without getting caught...funny stuff eh?

I just happened upon another quirky thing today... on my way to golf practice I come across 4 cars stopped in the middle of our main street just talking...once other cars start pulling up everyone knows the other and we wait patiently striking up a conversation with whoevers next to us..lol..I love the boondocks.

-A law was recently passed in my city that states you can be fined up to $5000 for graffiti-related vandalism. Since the law was enacted, instances of graffiti-related vandalism have tripled. The content of the majority of new tags have been anti-government and social commentary art...with gang-related tags accounting for only about 5% of cases. (Frankly I'm proud of this one)

I honestly think graffiti is a good thing. Except for the "Julio wuz heer" kind of sh*t. But it looks worse when someone paints a huge white blotch over the graffiti.
