synthetic materials:
i have a camo sheet that has pretend leafs sewed on it(made for deer hunting)

ghillie

camo for rifle

4 wood boards

natural:
foliage(leafs, sticks, weeds, and pretty much every other foliege

Ok first find a good spot. If you want ideas look at my "The Art of Incognito" in my sig. Then take a pair of clippers and make it so you can get to your spot by crawling. Cut as little as possible. This is very important.

And for the final step... do nothing. The less you disturb the environment the more natural it looks (duh).

When you go to lay down (assuming you are planning to lay prone) take the dirt and leaves on the ground and put it on top of you. That way it doesn't make noise underneath you and it helps hide you.

PS: Where did you get your ghillie?

try to place yourself against a hill or a large rock... this might sound stupid but it allows you to concentrate on one area instead of having to worry about the other flank or whats that coming up behind me scenarios. if there is nothing like this try camping in a not so obvious area(ie. 10ft away from a trail, in the middle of a less dense wooded area etc etc). this takes extreme skill to pull off, and you WILL have to use natural vegetation when doing this.

try to stay away from anything synthetic if you plan on making a burrow, but if you do need to speed things up use the hunting sheet and drape it over one side of the burrow and add some natural vegi.

hope that helps.

I agree with sticks, find a good way to narrow down your concentration so you dont have to worry about being shot in the back. Hillsides work well, maybe against some heavy brush or a large tree? Either way it would narrow the possibility of you getting blindsided.

Yes but if you are playing with experienced people they might know to look in a hill next to the big rock that gives tons of cover. I sure would.

This is a great point. Something to consider anyway. It's a tough call finding a nice mix between needed cover and not digging in in areas that just "scream" sniper nest.

actually, sometimes the most effective sniper spot is the one that "just screams sniper spot". if you are playing with experienced players then, assuming you are experienced, they wont think to look at the obvious spots.

Dig into an area about a couple of inches into the ground and set up boards . Then cover the boards with a ghille ( prefferably a duck hunting ghille ) and cover that with foliage Then leave a spot for you and your spotter to get in and out quickley , and a spot to shoot . My spotter and I used to do this alot until we became a little bit more mobile .

ok if you see a really good spot don't use it. Most likely the other team will see it to so pick another spot that is less likely to see a sniper in and then get in there sry can't help to much with the set up.

Buy one of those military shovels so you can dig and make a little thing to go prone in and set it up as a little base type thing.

i think you mean a shallow fox hole. Or as some say a marine grave its a old thing from ww2 when marines would dig a small hole only large enough for them to lay down in and when they got killed in them it was kinda like a shallow grave because they would just fill it in and leave.

A radio would be a nice touch. Just be sure to wear orange when you are in the nest. Very Happy

ya can't have you getting shot so a orange sweat shirt or something would be a good idea just to let people know you are there and not to shoot at you Rolling Eyes
