| Well today I had to skip out early so I could avoid turning in this partially completed rough draft of a "persuasive research paper." I could barely even finish it right now because I am at a loss for facts and such. [not looking for help] I am only limited to school resources, library and virtual archives which are painfully annoying to sift through for the controversial person I choose.
Another instance of I HATE SCHOOL is the prom. High school Proms SUCK. Maybe they were cool a good few years back, but now all the fun has been sucked out of them and guess where us kiddies go when we can't even have fun at something that is meant to be. Down to rebel Jim's house smoking up a few joints and gettin' wasted.
Oh and here is a funny one. Roughly a week ago a local television program came to the school to broadcast this show on how our school is the "cool school of GA." Well that theory would have worked if it A. wasn't 5 o'clock on a Monday morning after a long weekend of airsoft, and B. it didn't involve school work period. I was 'required' to go, but my beastly parkour skillz found me on the roof, people watching with my brand new NC Star monocular. BTW NC Star makes great optics. The monocular awesome!!!
Tell me your little thoughts on your boring, dull, and hated life of being a high school student 5 days of the week.

| Well, I am not in high school any more, but think of it this way. . . Half the things you learn in high school you'll forget soon after leaving, another 25% is just useless, but you'll remember it, and the next 25% was only a basic understanding of what you really need to know, not enough to even be a success.
0_0 bout sums it up. | |

| I just slide on through, I bite the bullet and go. Some classes I like, some I hate. Some Teachers are bloodthirsty monsters, (Mrs. Doll) and some I can really connect with, (Hachmiester(ex-Infantry) ms. Howald, Mr. Rhodes, Mr. Kozeny) Im sitting here doing Algebra as we speak. I keep my grades up for two reasons: 1. Army/Air Force requires good academic performance 2. I just want to make my parents proud of me. In the past week I hav no life, for the following resons: 1.Raised Spanish 2 D- to an A- 2.Raised Physics grade from 55.1 to an 82. 3. Raised Algebra grade from 55.6 (oddly the EXACT grade as my girlfriend, right down to the decimal) to a 71, then even higher once my test gets put into the system. I was one of 8 kids that didnt fail out of 24. When I got my test back and read that 80% it was quite a scene. I screamed yelled, ju,ped up and done and rode the bull out into the hall way. Its only the second time in my life I've seen Mrs. Doll smile. So this week, knowing what I've accomplished, is now somewhat relaxing and accomplishing. | |

| School for me when like this.
Kid is Smart, gets 80%+ on all test, Kid is also lazy, has other things to do, has job, doesn't do homework.
Teachers give kid bad grade because doing good on test and PROVING that kid knows the material is not enough, they require you to do hours of work that you already know. Kid gets pissed . . . dad makes fun of kid, kid passes high-school no thanks to its horrible system, and kid is still lacking in free time.
THAT is school. K-12 is pretty much a place for kids to be babysat, they don't know how to actually TEACH a subject.

| I got my progress report today and I was actually impressed with my self. I had 3 A's, 1 B and 1 C.
The C was in American Lit, go figure. The B was in Algebra 2. and the rest of my classes, PE and world history were A's.
I would have to agree sticks, there is a mix of good/bad teachers.
Here is my newest vent though. Diet Soda. Since last year, our state requires all vendor companies that vend to the school to only sale diet drinks like Coke zero, [or pepsi free for you yank's]. These drinks have a horribly disgusting after taste. It didn't end there tho. Our school has a desert line for lunch and I swore to Don't use the Lord's name in vain. that I would never buy another cookie from it again. The cookies were made with that cheap splenda, not even real splenda and they tasted Fawlful [yes I just made that up]

| This thread in its entirety pretty much is my schedule for the week(especially DT's grades lol, not as dramatic. But you get the idea). My quirks with school...
1: to get into any "respectable" college you need to have a 3.5+ accumulation GPA. You probably also need to take "advanced" course's(not AP). To take "advanced" coarse's you either need to have been selected for them in elementary school(want in the system then, stupid private schooling...), or you need to be a kiss A** to all your teachers(lol, I'm not even close)....
2: to continue these "advanced" coarse's you either need to be a Kiss A, or you need to maintain an A in every subject(not just the "Advanced" course's), And you need to get recommended by a teacher(basically, I had a dispute by one of my humanities teachers).
3: these "advanced" classes that are required for AP classes, aren't that advanced at all... The only difference between them and the normal classes is the fact that the students in the "advanced" classes do more of their work.
4: By this time you have eliminated about 1/2 of the students for AP classes, which actually mean something. So in 2 years of schooling you have effectively halved your student populace going to AP courses, and therefor the school who smartly halved their AP student is going to get 1/2 the funding they could have gotten if they had changed the curriculum/teachers that is causing the problems in the first place.
5: They will not change the curriculum even after it has been proven that people learn in many different ways, and 75% of people DO NOT learn the best with the current ways of teaching(lectures, or notes). Imagine what a math teacher could do with models explaining what she was teaching instead of just lecturing.... Or how bout a History teacher that has a 3d program on his computer that can show students the real trama's of WW1 instead of saying "The brits and the french were dying, we came and saved them, End". Then taking two weeks to explain every part of the post war treaties and organizations(leage of nations.... that was about 1 week of schooling. we went over WW1 in a little under 4 days.....).
6: After Geometry(math), history 6(besides government), science 6, and English 8(everything is repeated after this point). You are not gaining any valuable info unless you are going to major/work in that field(ie, trig is good for engineering etc etc).
7: Foreign languages are not being taught as a core coarse, they are an elective(same thing as Art, or Gym). Basically the one thing you might use(besides English and basic math), every day no matter what field you work in; IS NOT IMPORTANT TO THE SYSTEM!
8: Colleges cost so much now a days, that you either need a scholarship or a butt load of money to go(ie, its like paying for a top of the line Honda Civic every year, not including room and board).
9: It costs twice as much to keep a teenage male in prison than it does to school one. If the purpose of schooling is to allow kids to lead successful lives then why don't we increase the funding for school systems.
10: technical schools(career centers, etc), only open the curriculum to juniors/seniors. Personally I think they should start at a lower age group(freshmen, maybe 8 graders). If they find that they do not want to do the job they can transfer out. Look at Mexico, great schooling system. They don't have high school, everything past the 9th grade is a technical school/university. It work sell for them, why wouldn't it work for us.
11: dances are lame, kids get treated like middle schoolers(no offence, you guys get treated like 4yr olds). They cost way to much money, you can go to a 18 and under club for $8 and a little waiting, homecoming costs $10, plus a semi formal suite(pants, shirt tie. No c=suit coat for us). to dance to old music, thats edited, and mixed by the same DJ who does the "Class of 69 reunion". You know that guy in his 30's who is too old and too lame to work at a real club, so he does stuff like homecoming/reunions/prom.
LW wrote: "Diet Soda. Since last year, our state requires all vendor companies that vend to the school to only sale diet drinks like Coke zero, [or pepsi free for you yank's]. "
Your lucky, we only have Aquifina.... Not the flavored kind.... Normal water. Last year we had almost anything you could want, plus it gave money to the schools. This year, nothing. They event removed the "unhealthy" pop tarts from the vending machines, leaving Cinnamon and Strawberry.... However, it takes 5 napkins to get the grease off the top of the school pizza... Good luck with the half cooked fries...
Kk for now the rants done.... Sorry if you don't get some of my points, I directed them at my school district... Which has enough problems with over 100 schools....

| Listen to me when i tell you, school is a phase in life where in order to succeed in life you need to have. I hated school, ya know fooling around during the warmer periods of the school year, going to the lake and chilling out and swimming. Or just "skipping" school in general is not worth it. I graduated but it was barely, I could not go to the college I wanted to because of my grades. Now i play airsoft and act like nothing is wrong in the world. which in my eyes nothing is. only thing Icare about is family. keep your family close to your throughout high school | |

| No offense Gokey, but this is a thread about the quirks of when the government gets involved in schooling. Please do not give me a stay in school lecture.
[rant]
This week I am going through Jr. Grad Testing. Anyways, GA is one of the DUMBEST states in the U.S. But honestly, this little question is just ridiculous "What is the shape of this Basketball [picture]
A. Triangle B. Circle C. Square D. Sphere"
This isn't your average "Practice" question either. Another thing I hate about testing is how every single time, every single day the proctor is required to baby you through the filling out process and instructions in 'dumbed down' terms so our 'geniuses' can understand them. What else is bullshit about testing is the new mobile device regulation. If ONE student's cell phone goes off during the testing time before all the test are turned in. Everyone who was in that room now has a void test and has to retake it during summer school. Honestly they take things too far to prevent cheating. Instead they rather fail a entire group then allow one kid to be caught and face the consequences alone for cheating.

| If you want to talk PK i made another thread.
As for getting highschool diploma from a GA school. It really never says much at all. Where your really defined is either at a vocational or tech university. This is why the mexican schooling system succeeds. High school is just childish and stupid sometimes.

| I hate my school we can't do anything, its like my school is a prison and every classroom is a jail cell. Our administration is the worst out of the enitre county. Our principals are total A-holes and never shut up. Example my friend got 10 hours of detention for saying the F-bomb then I say it to my teachers face and she luaghs....... I can't agree with you more LW prom sucks! Im not going (that storys later in the post) but its really starting to anger that the only thing people are talking about and I can't say anything. So the reason im not going is becuase the girl I asked has to work which is complete BS so now im just going to drink on prom night. Not to mention the girls in my school can be summed up in 4 words pot heads, ugly, stuck up and slutty.

FML You shouldn't complain, I have to be out the door at 5:45 every day next year.... I also have to wear USAF dress blues. Its semi formal every day except Friday(PT day) all next year. But its definitely worth it! LW, we have a similarly stupid test up here. One of the questions was "what continent is Australia located in?" Multiple choice with the answers being "A-Australia B-Europe C-Antartica D-North America".... Thats not that bad part, during lunch I was discussing the question with a friend. Female 4.0 student, in calc this year etc etc, "yeah that was the stupedist question, I mean everyone knows Australia isn't a continent, its a country!" I had a red mark from the massive face palm I did.... Dude facepalming that hard hurts bad . Needless to say this is the reason I know that grades and GPA's are a loose representation of what kids actually know in terms of knowledge. sticks

| i've got the best principal and vice principal ever! the principal couldn't care less if you drop a cuss word, and neither does the vice principal. if you have a good reason for getting into a fight, they don't care. as long as you don't wear camoflauge, you're all good. one time, i got kicked out of language arts for saying 'sacktap' and when the vice principal asked me why i said it, i was just like 'i don't know. i was just talking to my friend. my teacher's a crazy "Watch your language". i've even changed my outlook on life.' and she was like 'how so?' and i reply, quoting Platoon 'when i die, bury me upside-down so the world can kiss my @$$.' she then began laughing hysterically, and gave me a reese's peanut butter cup. and, i have a totally redneck American History teacher, which is awesome because i'm a redneck, too! and i'm allowed to listen to my iPod in my reading class. but the rest of my school sucks. i have to wake up at 4:30 to get ready, and i school is never cancelled. it once snowed three feet and every school in the frickin' district was closed except mine. woohoo! frickin' administration. | |

| Oh thank you for reviving this thread I have another fun, educational experience today. SOME TEACHERS ARE NAZIS!!! I don't know how you guys may have reacted but this will really make you go: WTF BOMB!!!. Anyways this is how to get 'written up' by a tight, systematic, and cold teacher. This is the last teacher I have during my day and I have her for a whole block (90 minutes). Anyhow this specific teacher has a strict tardy and pass policy. Basically if you are not IN YOUR SEAT when the bell rings you must walk all the way to the front office to get a unexcused tardy slip (7 of which = a 'detention"). The other part of the policy, hall passes are for "EMERGENCIES ONLY" well what this teacher did not consider when coming up with this policy is that emergencies can happen more than once and it isn't even a emergency, its called "Mam, i have to take a p1$$." Well I have already gone once this week, then today had to go again. She gives me this crap about "go in between classes" I have this lady for a block and when I started her class I just got through drinking a coke zero which will go thru any average person in 30 minutes...the middle of her block. She signed the gay hall pass 'papers' booklets we have and at the door she keeps a log of who went that week. Well she found I went the same week. You could imagine I was very impatient at the moment and just said "be right back" (lol). Anyways she threatened to 'write me up' for lying to her and leaving without permission. She probably will and by tommorow my parents will get a phone call from a administrator and knowing them. They'll get angry, I'll get angry then the school and this specific teacher will just have to stick it. What I love about public school. Is the loopholes they have in the system. For example this teacher made it her CLASSROOM policy to not allow this to happen. However the state guidelines specifically say "all students have the right to access the restrooms during class time, but must have a signed pass from teacher. The teacher may not limit his/her students in the number of passes made during the course of a day, week, or hour." (a few years ago a parent sued because her child had some kind of medical problem wasn't allowed to go so he did what all resourceful people did and did it right there in the trash can the teacher wrote him up for classroom disruption and it has been a brouhaha ever since) | |

| Oh you guys are going to love this one:
Today my mother told me she just had a unfortunate call with my b*tch of a Literature teacher (and I mean every word). She failed me because "my attitude was a little off", oh she was fortunate I wasn't the one who picked up the phone because there would be some cussing/yelling/fist banging...ect. Now what is screwed up about her reason is I made a freaking 100 on the final, I aced it completely and yet she failed me over "attitude" WTF!?! So pretty much she failed me for 'being out of line' well I was never, except that little incident with the restroom which was her doing. She had much worse students in her class. I was pretty much the norm so she failed the entire class? What the h3ll...Oh and she also made us fill out a opinion sheet, lets put it this way, I kindly recommend changes that had to be made for improvement and I made my opinions honestly like she instructed us to, Did not sign my name.
You see I am a honest person. I don't play games with people, nor show attitude. I don't love up and befriend people who are like this, and because I don't she failed me.
As you can imagine my parents are quite p*ssed and there may be some confrontation. Oh and especially the fact she waited till the last minute right after she submitted the permanent grade to tell my parents.
