Near as I figure, there are 3 different basic positions you can play in airsoft Sniper, Rifleman, and Support. There are many breakdowns of these three, so I am going to try to define each type of airsofter

The Sniper
Possibly the most infamous soldier, the Snipers main role is either to sneak into lines, get a certain target, and get out; To defend a position from small enemy forces; or to act as a scout that moves ahead of the main force, and reports on enemy movements. Usually travels in a 2-man team, a sniper, and a spotter.

so many people begin there airsoft careers as a sniper, then change off later, because they aren't silent enough, have trouble using a scope, or just get bored with sitting there waiting for someone to come by. This is really not an uncommon event, and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Spotter-Usually a rifleman whose main job is to help the sniper out as much as possible. He is used to tell the sniper such things as wind speed, approximate distance, and other important things. He is also there to help get the sniper out of sticky situations, and even may act as a distraction, so that the sniper may get away

Designated rifleman- Usually acts as a sort of sniper inside a larger force. He stil may have the training of a regular sniper, but is used to help defend the larger force, or move to take out positions for the larger force (Remember the Sniper in Saving Private Ryan, he was a Designated Marksman.). He can act as an "anti-sniper" Where he tracks and attempts to kill other snipers

Rifleman
a class that will usually make up the bulk of an army. They usually will carry an automatic weapon, or a semi auto, but i have seen some with shotguns, or machine pistols. They are very good to have in a firefight, and can hold down a base or a set position. They are used to attack enemy positions, and can be sent to act as decoys to help fool the enemy, while a larger force sweeps in from the side.

Specialist/Marine/Commandos-The very best of the riflemen, used for special operations, like "infiltrate the enemy base", or "sneak around the enemy main force, and cut there escape routes.

Support/engineers
This class caries the big weapons of warfare. They are the bazooka crews, the people with the miniguns, that guy who has the mines/claymores/grenades all over his tactical vests. These people are used to attack well-fortified positions, and usually are protected by a riflemen unit. These people usually carry a sidearm of some sort, usually a rifle of some sort or another.

Miniguns/ high ROF weapon users- probably the scariest opponent in airsoft, because they can fling 5000 bb's in nothing flat. Think of them as people who carry machine guns on steroids. Some use car batteries to power, and will eat through bags of bb's in nothing flat.

Pointman-A soldier with mastery of close quarter combat. Typically armed with a shotgun, high ROF cqb weapon (Mp5, Mp7, etc.). Breech entry and tactical installation clearing.

Rocket/mortar-protected by infantry, these units can cause some serious damage to an enemy base. The usual rule is that if a rocket (or grenade) is shot into a room, anyone in that room is dead, so these men can be used to clear to attack fortified positions with minimal casualties, because 1 round can kill 10 men.

Engineers- Used to either fortify positions with mines and claymores, or to set up booby traps to put a stop on the enemy teams plans. Usually carry an AEG or other weapon so that if found, they can at least defend themselves. Very handy to have if defending your base, or playing CTF

Tell me what you think, and what should be edited Cool

Well could you possibly put the class titles in bold? it would be easier to read. Maybe check some spelling? tongue

Good otherwise. Some of the info seemed sloppy but you displayed the basic idea.

You left out "Pointman"

A soldier with mastery of close quarter combat. Typically armed with a shotgun, high ROF cqb weapon (Mp5, Mp7, etc.). Breech entry and tactical installation clearing.

I belive in Infantry, CQB expert (pointman), DM, heavy gunner, Support Gunner, and sniper.
Infantry
Your most basic soldier comes in three types
LIGHT
An infantryman who leads the charge heads in with a good ROF and Clip capacity the first in the fray. Their setback is the fact that because they are fast they do not carry many clips maybe 3 or 4.
MEDIUM
A heavier weapon here are your M16s G36ks and such. They have a very high ROF normaly carry a box or C mag. They also play the role of a grenadier with a grenade launcher. There main attack is accurate sprays. And in the absence of a CQB expert they carry a shotgun. A very versitile class.
HEAVY
The heavy riflemen uses long and accurate weapons low ROF long range and accurate they pick their shots. They carry the most ammunition 6 to 8 mags and are slow and trained to be the brains of the sqaud. Sqaud leaders are normaly Heavy riflemen.
CQB
In 2 types
SMG
Basic CQB nothing special High ROF small weapon fast and small they are used in my mind to run in and break up the enemy.
BB
Building Buster. They specialize in clearing buildings and small areas. They use a Shotgun for CQB and a higher fps one for further encounters.
DM
A sqaud sniper very accurate protects the gunner. They use a DMR which has a full auto capability to jump into the fight. They also support the sqaud when extra support is needed or if the gunner is down.

Gunner
HEAVY GUNNER
Carries a heavier weapon AK with drum mag XM8 with a C mag M16 with a boxmag etc. etc. Their main goal is to support the sqaud by use of fire support grenade support smoke cover etc.etc.
SUPPORT GUNNER
SAWS, M60, the really big stuff. They follow the same role as a heavy but they are much slower and larger. The biggest difference is that they carrie mags, water, bbs, and stuff for the sqaud.

Sniper
The master of stealth and field craft sniper can rule the battlefield there are several types of sniping
HUNTING
this is where the sniper hunts down one man. often a spotter is brought along.

GUARDIAN
Where a sniper tails and scouts for a sqaud. The sniper warns of ambushs and enemy movement and snipes people who give trouble.

SPOTTER
The spotter is someone who assists the sniper you hit that nail on the head with that one mustang. When a sniper and spotter team up they are very deadly and can knock out high priority targets.

THESE IS MY VEIW. Thats just what I think. Engineer, Tanker, Special ops are promotions.

ENGINEER
They can be any class but they head construction and maintain our fields

TANKER
Someone who works with vehicles of any kind driving and maintaining.

SPEC OPS
Any class but this special title means you learn the art of stealth and ambushing for this you receive a rank up, a ghillie, and a Spec Ops patch. This also entitles you to join Whisper sqaud when they form.

Thats what I think Very Happy.

Well I accdentaly put DM under CQB. I also forgot that a DM can use a bolt action cause when they run up they can be a heavy rifleman.
