| which one is better for getting the most kills? I have no idea and a book (airsoft and paintball battle tactics good read) says that they both are about the same.
Please no anger here we already heard from sticks to PM arguments not on the fourms. this is already heading that way ok.

| If you are after a large hit count with the shortest amount of exposure, the Near Ambush is your best way to go, a Near Ambush is all based on Violence of Action !!!! The max amount of BB´s put on Target for the shortest amount of time required. Total reduction of an opposing force. A Far Ambush is more of a delaying Tactic, Hit them from a safe range, reduce the the force, withdraw and do it again. The basic principle behind a Far Ambush is to Delay, Disrupt, and Demoralize your opponent. Both types of ambushes can be used effectively during a long game, both have Pro´s and Cons, but for a large number of Hits, Near Ambush !!! If your Team is large enough, you can use both of them at the same time !! Set up a far ambush, initiate contact and pull your opponent in close, allow them to give chase, keep your element within sight but just out of range, pull your opponent into your near ambush ( Should be set up prior to you engaging with the far ambush ). Your opponent gets so fixated with catching the Far Ambush, they stop paying attention to their surroundings, and when they get erased by a near ambush while giving chase, the facial expressions are worth the added effort. | |

| All of this depends , it depends on what type of airsoft gun you have , how many members you have on your team , and how many you are ambushing . Take this for an example , my spotter and I don't do that much of ambushing but other sniper and spotter teams due , but lets just say that a group of fifteen is on their way and just the two of us me and my spotter , ambush them at some pretty close range , him with his pretty heavy Saw and me with my pretty long L-96 . Well lets just say that the outcome of that one wouldnt be to pretty . Probally a group of fifteen is too big so lets just say a group of five come into an ambush where is five of us too , me , my spotter , our engineer , one of our riflemen , and one of our medics , well the best idea for this would be to send forward the Engineer ahead of the group that we are ambushing and have him to set up booby traps like present day airsoft road side bombs and a couple of spring mortar traps and stuff . Then whenever the enemy gets near throw smoke bombs and have the engineer and rifleman charge while me and m spotter stay behind to lay down some covering fire with the medic who will sand by just in case something goes to where we will need him . All of this is just basic common sense and it depends just as I said up at the top earlier . | |

| Well I didn't quite understand the question at first but, in my opinion, it all depends on your role, skill, and armaments. As a markman, my greatest tool in an "ambush" is my range and accuracy. It's not about the MOST kills Wolf, it's about WHO you kill. My ambushes are based on concealment and accuracy, taking out DT's at the enemy base when they least expect it: often during the night. As an infantyman on the other hand, I'd favor close-in firefighting over anything if I didint have the tools to provide long range capabilities. | |

| Both. When I am playing a role where my ROF sucks or I have MED's then I would definitely pick the far ambush(ie, using my VSR).... It also depends on the mission. If my team is setting up a missal or escorting a VIP somewhere all I should really need to do is slow the OPFOR down. I could do this allot better with a far ambush, and I would also stay alive giving me the option to ambush them again. If I use my G36 then usually its a close ambush, unless its a situation above. I can do allot more damage with a close ambush than a far ambush..... However I will probably have to use my dead rag too . sticks | |

| This is pretty much a question of preferance between CQB play, or DM field style. A good team would use both depending on there situation. | |

| The near ambush is what CO 4 the fall back commander specializes in. When me G od and Jarhead are dead he regroups and takes as many of them with us as we can. Boston ( CO 4) often does this with the near ambush. | |
