| Okay, so I want a gun for under $500. Here are my requirements: - reliable
easy to find mags, optics, rails, grenade launchers, etc. simple to operate newb friendly (it won't break easily) very little maintenance suitable for multiple different load-outs and uniforms not a Classic Army under $500
i want a fps good for field and cqb. i guess i can do with any kind of rifle, although i'm not really a big fan of the AK-47 because of the iron sights. (rear sight is too far forward, making it inaccurate) i was looking at the A&K M249 SAW MKII and MKI awhile back, but it seems pretty costly to operate... oh yeah, another requirement for the rifle is that it must be suitable for support/rifleman positions. do y'all think the CYMA Galil would be a good choice? here it is, if you want to see it. http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=4989Basically, i want a gun i can keep for a couple of years without any major upgrades or maintenance. Also, if I have some money left over out of the $500, i can get gear, so keep that in mind!

| Ok so obviously a high quality gun. Heres your companys to choose from G&G, Classica Army, Tokyo Marui and KWA. Now the only question is what type of a gun are you looking for like an M4, M16, G36, AK-47 etc..... A little more info will help you a lot. | |

| Aveemp I can honestly say that I would get better range with my stock TM M4(270FPS back in the day) than my stock Echo 1 G36(342FPS).... They are just that good. TM is quite possibly the most noob friendly guns on the market.... If a TM isn't noob friendly then no other replica is, as all AEG's are a clone of TM's design. Can I ask why you don't want a CA Jarhead? They are probably the best built guns in the game right now. I have never seen someone crack a CA metal body.... I just saw someone take a nice chunk out of their G&G at an OP a few weeks back..... Now the new CA's even come stock with a M120 spring, so they match KWA in performance if not beat them. They also have a new redesigned hop-up, think G36 hop-up in an M4..... Pure win it is!!!!! Linkage to the newest n00b pwning machine! http://www.airsoftsmith.com/store/index.php?cPath=21_22_37The AK irons actually work better in airsoft because we cannot get rounds out to the ranges where it becomes inaccurate... That only happens at ranges beyond 100M, we can usually only shoot out to 200-240ft max on a standard AEG. They are actually better because you can acquire the target quicker with the sites farther forward.... sticks | |

| A_S: ah, come on, now! i've looked at over 200 guns and i've finally decided. please don't get me going again. danke shon, though.
Sticks: don't want the Classic Armys because my friends older brother has about 20 of them, including the M249 MkII and the M249 Para, and he says he runs through pistons like Jimmy Jones runs through Purple Kool-Aid. now, replacing pistons wouldn't be such a huge problem if i KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT REPAIRING AIRSOFT GUNS! dude, i don't know a piston from a gearbox. after i begin to not be such a newb, then i can look at a CA. gracias, though. | |

| sticks: I completely agree with you, and was having second thoughts about posting that one. From what I understand, TM guns don't have high fps, but they have rock solid internals(correct me if I am wrong about any of this). And what they lack in fps, they make up with an amazing hop up. With TMs, fps only means that it will take longer for the bb to reach the target. I made that comment only thinking about the VSR-10. | |

| Well actually the Classic Army guns weren't that good back a few years ago but now they keep on rebuilding and redesigning to where they are actually some of the best guns out there on the market . Also like Sticks.13 said most all airsoft guns are Tokyo Mauri Clones so that must mean something . Tokyo Mauri is very very durable and very very accurate also as Sticks.13 said but it is completely your choice . I said it once and I will say it again you will be using it not us . PS by the way sorry for getting you going again . PSS look at the Classic Army G36 closely and then look at the real thing pretty close huh | |

| A_S good history! That was a crap long time ago though, that was pre my airsoft days..... Musta been in 2003 when they started getting good, before 2003 they were like ARES/STAR/KA guns, people would buy the guns for their externals and drop TM mechboxes in them. Heck I remember when it was the norm for people to spend $500 just on externals. Some still do but its gotten cheaper to do in the last few years with the Clone RIS/RAS and other externals. Slob you probably remember these days better than I, I was just readin about when CA's were crap. OK, back on topic now . I was talking with my local airsoft store employee, and apparently CA have refined their pistons with the new line. But if it really bothers you that much, most airsoft stores can drop an aftermarket piston in a new gun for like $20. The newer Systema Polly carb pistons are really nice, stock TM pistons arn't the best but they work great for normal setups(non higher speed or torque/FPS). Replacing pistons in SAW's may be normal depending on what he runs in his SAW. If you really want a durable piston I would look into the Deep Fire poly carb and Systema v6 poly carb pistons. Add a nice piston head and remove the second tooth and you have a great blaster. You may not need to do this with the new CA's though, I would just play it by ear. sticks | |
