| So, I like to say I know a good ammount about the Hop-Up in our replicas, but I need to be sure about some things because I have been told things by some locales who may contradict another locale, I get confused and scratch my noggin, and come here!! SSSOOO, correct me if I'm wrong, here's what I know: (or at least I THIK I know ) The hop-Up BUCKING is the actual piece of rubber that your BB sits in when chambered, correct? This is where mis-shaped BBs hurt? And then the actual Hop-Up "SYSTEM" is some other larger piece? If somebody could just really lay out the hop-up system for me that would be great. Pictures of maybe an example AEG hop-up system or bucking would be much appreciated. I'm still learning as much as possible out the insides of of my guns | |

| your bb never sits IN the bucking. the bucking goes around the inner barrel and forms a seal inside the hop chamber. On the top of the inner barrel in the hop chamber is where the buck is exposed so the nub can pinch down and put the backspin on the bb. | |

| Ah, I see, SO that Nub is part of the bucking? Or....? And how can I identify the actual 'Hop Up Chamber' ? And are AEG and gas or pistol-type hop ups about the same? | |

| Nub is a separate piece it pushes down on the bucking through the opening on the top of the barrel inside of the chamber.
Chamber: where bb is inserted to barrel.
Gas and AEG hop ups have the same principle yes.

| So the piece of rubber or chamber where the BB sits IS part of the actual Hop-UP system, but NOT the bucking? And also, what parts of the Hop Up AREN'T the actual hop up bucking? I used to think that piece of rubber was just the whole hop up, but now I know it's just the BUCKING. | |

No if you've taken apart a hop up before you will see the bucking is around the barrel inside of the hop up chamber.

| Thank you very much for the pic. So I guess what I'm having trouble figuring out is, Whats the difference between the Hop-Up bucking and the actual entire Hop-up unit? It seems to me that the Bucking IS the hop-up unit. I understand now that it is only the rubber sealed around the barrel, but isn't that the WHOLE HOP UP? Like what other parts are there to an actual hop-up unit? Sorry lots of questions, thank you for being patient. | |

| The hop up isn't one piece. You have the chamber, bucking, barrel, nub, and levers/arms when your talking about a hop up.
I think your getting confused between hop up assembly/chamber and the system as a whole.

| Oh okay, it's a bit clearer now. So the barrel is considered part of the Hop-Up? And what are the levers/arms? And when I'm looking at a hop up or a professional is looking at it, and we talk about how we can see how it's mis-shaped and need a new whatever it is, IS that considered the bucking? Thats what I've always caled it and the guys at my shop called it, but to my understanding here that's the chamber. | |

| The structure of the hop up is called the chamber/assembly (black pastic piece in pic) the levers/arms are what adjust the height of the nub.
What kind of hop up are you working on?

| Not one in particular, I'm just trying to really get a feel for and understand the Hop Up unit. I am however working on a KWA USP .45 Hop and plan to take a look at my Thompsons Hop Up in a bit. | |
