| okay, guys. three questions. 1. which would you recommend, the CA version or TM? 2. any first-hand knowledge on the rifle? 3. is it somewhat newb-friendly? thanks, guys. i want to get either CA or TM, preferably CA, due to the fact that it is full metal. | |

| 1, Do you want to be super realistic or no? I would go CA, but some people don't like the Armalite trades, if thats the case then I would go TM and grab a G&P metal M733 body.
2, Shot and watched vids on the new CA M series, very nice shooters. Owned a TM M4, also a very nice blaster. Only difference between any of the M series are the externals... CA has some of the best externals in the game.
3, Yes, they are about as noob friendly as a airsoft replica can get! Nam' games are not so noob friendly though. If you have a passion for Nam' history you should be alright though.

| well, sticks, i can tell you almost everything about the Tet Offensive, the gear issued to Marines In-Country, and i love the time-period. basically, i want to get into Vietnam Airsoft. i will be buying real-steel gear, as well, so as realistic as i can get, please. and i do realize that colt manufactured the XM16 during Vietnam, so i can always just paint over the trades or something. | |

| Well I say go for the CA M16a1 then! TM's take allot of money to upgrade, but when you get them they are pure killers. CA's out of the box are great guns, they are even better with the redesigned parts that they come with. The externals are amazing, but the trades turn allot of Nam' players away from them. There are a bunch of Nam' players that use CA's so its not like you will be the laughing stock of the game either. I say go with the CA, and put a midwar US Army grunt kit together. Most games are focused around the Army as USMC kit is sooo hard to get. SOF kits are usually easy to put together, but SF slots are usually reserved....
Vietnamairsoft.com has allot of good info on gear and such. If you want to start shopping now, look around for Alice 56' kit at surplus stores or on Ebay.
Good luck! I'm putting a Nam' kit together soon. As soon as I get a few pouches for my RRV.

| thanks, sticks. it really sucks for gear, because Poplin shirts alone cost around $150. i'm lucky, though, because i have some family who served in 'Nam, and some of them still have their gear, so i may be able to get some stuff that way. i'm also thinking about M14, seeing as they were used pre-build up, so who knows? thanks again for the info, sticks! | |
