| Hey everybody, I was sitting here and started to wonder what a sniper does at night if he does not have access to night vision. If you can't use an illuminated reticule because of dazzling then what do you do. Are there any tricks or tips? | |

| The number one thing to keep mind is sustaining your natural night vision. don't use flashlights or expose your eyes to any excess light. This will help your eyes adapt to the darkness and allow you to see...although not in great detail. If you do need to use a light of some sort, use one with a red tinting. This will reduce the strain on your eyes. As far as scopes and other optics go, I would advise getting one with an adjustable reticle light. Even on the lowest setting it is visible to the shooter at night, whilst being unspottable from a distance. Again, a red tinting will prove best. Use 'glare hiders' and other optic covers will reduce the visible glare on the lens caused by the moon. On days with no moon or new moon, these skills will be put to their test. With no ambient light, even the most trained eyes will have extreme difficulty seeing at night. | |

| One problem with that, sniper, is that if lined up at the right angle, the light will bounce around inside the scope and come out the other end to some extent, casing a rather large glare and in travel down your scope and become amplified. Basically, creating a big "SHOOT ME" sign. The same can be said about heading directly towards the moon. This is where cover and concealment come into play. Protect your scope from light and you will be unspottable. | |

| you could use a very low setting in your scope illumination. my scope has 11 settings, all in red. This allows me to use low illumination while still retaining night vision. | |

| Should you be using a scoped gun, take up a position where you are in the shadows, but still aiming at a high traffic area. At night, even a mobile sniper should sit. Now, at night games, most of the high traffic areas, are usually lightly lit up, have motion lights, or just have regular flat out light. In these area, the enemy wont see you, because you r in shadows, but since the area you are aiming at has light you scope will be easy to see out of, opposed to aiming blindly in the dark. | |

| even if its not lit up, its not like its pitch black, you can usually see dark figures and see if its your team or not. | |

| $10 flashlights. They're great. They can light up an area and you can create your very own no-access areas of the battlefield. | |

| guys, guys, guys, c'mon now! have none of you read the book Hunters and Shooters? it states that if you remain in the dark for long enough, your natural nightvision will let you see as clear as day, and it does. i have tried this myself. | |

| yeah i think it takes about 45 minutes for your eyes to fully adjust but just a little bit of light and it mess it all up and u have to start all over | |

| Before Your game Close one eye and have your open eye look at a light for about 2-3 mins. Repeat with other eye. I did it at a 15 vs 15 game. Longer you stare at the light the better you'll see | |

But then they know exactly where you are and can flank your position in the dark areas. To clarify my earlier post about multiple $10 flashlights, I meant that you can tape em to trees, lay them on the ground, rocks etc. and no one will walk in their stream. If one walks in their stream you know where they are right away and can track their movements. If you post up RIGHT next to the light, you're in trouble. Its just a cheaper way of setting up floodlights, i guess. | |
