The Key Elements of Airsoft....
by Sarge of 501 Rangers
Now to crate havoc on the enemy team…
The game has been going on for a few minutes now… A barrage of airsoft AEG's fire all around you and a couple of BB's bounce all around you…. But, you keep your nerves and mind set unwavering. Your primal emotion is to bolt like a rabbit, but your heart is beating like an African Lion hiding in the tall grass. You are carrying the ultimate Airsoft Weapon( your Mind). You smile smugly to yourself, knowing that your secret will cut a deep blow through the other team, like a chainsaw though a watermelon. Without getting in a hurry you begin to creep and crawling your way toward the high ridged area where you’re concealed, sniper’s liar is placed. You reach for the upper pocket on your BDU Shirt, like Bruce Willis reaching for a packet of cigarettes. While the enemy force scurries from bunker to bunker and from hole to hole like army ants.... You casually free-up, ready to set free your weapon. You lift the small device from your pocket and you find the button and touch it. After a short pause, you press it.
Then, you call-in and report……
“All teams, this is Zebra Leader,” You holding a Motorola 350GFX radio in your hand and you report to your commander your findings on the enemies’ position and strength and tactic’s.
Your radio crackles back “Zebra Leader this is Alpha Leader.” “We are on the enemy’s frontline, moving up the back fence line. “Over.” “You then slip the radio back into your pocket and guiltily smile as you inaudibly work your way up the Ridgeline to the stimulating sounds of brutal airsoft battle fire. Micro battles break out all over the field below, and now you know what it is like to belong to a tight, well-trained, and cohesive AIRSOFT TEAM.
You simply can’t be a serious player without playing on a good team. Some deceive themselves by claiming that they are “A solo-player or lone wolves” capable of personally defeating the other team without the help of their teammates. Certainly, everyone has a lucky streak from time to time, which can only be achieved like within the Hollywood movies ex.{ Rambo}…. { Shooter }......{ Die Hard }..... you get the picture!
A great Airsoft Team balances on three elements: Communication, Leadership and Planning. Without one of these, your team’s just a bunch of Pre -Madonna’s wearing the same camo.
Communication:
Using radios is much harder than one might think. Getting them to work reliably takes lots of work and practice. The only way to keep your Airsoft Team fighting like a well-oiled Train; is having the right hand knowing where the left hand is going and doing…you must master your radio protocols, codes and a sense of knowing every one on your team crazy little in’s and out’s, You will then have a key to be a thorn in the side to your enemy. Also give the time and attention and total control of your emotions and body functions…you have been given the ultimate secret weapon “Communication”.
(If it were easy, everyone would be doing it.) Watch your speech and breathing when communicating with your teammates… Take your time picture yourself on the other side of the speaker and what you might sound like…. Not every one can project their voice in a manner that everyone can interrupt and understand. Ex. “That guy from the movie previews… deep voice prefect speak yeah right!!!! ( Don't use the Lord's name in vain. bless his sole who has recently pass away).... Just slow down”
Leadership:
One person must lead the team. Airsoft Players are notoriously rowdy and unruly and get themselves into trouble quickly. Getting your bunch of wildcats to follow commands and orders will be very challenging. The leader must first learn his team member(s) as they will grow and learn their new leader; However the Team Leader must earn the total respect and the KEY WORD “TRUST” of every one in the whole squad….. As the Team Leader will do and ask the squad member(s) to do things that they all might not agree upon. This is were the trust and respect of ALL THE TEAM MEMBER(s) will come into play. As the achievements and awards and total respect and fear from all other Airsoft Teams continue to rise; then you will see what it means to be a leader, as your team’s confidence level rises above the heavens….
Planning:
While your plan may be very simple, you must all begin the game on the same sheet of music and stick to the plan.) Deviating from the plan to run off and chase glory is one of the biggest reasons why teams get massacred and ripped to pieces. ****“Remember Strengthen in numbers”**** I can say without a doubt, Airsoft Player’s settle down get behind your team leader. Remeber****communicate and obey commands.*** That’s probably why there are so few effective teams out there.
The Great TEAMS that drive fear at all the fields and scenario game’s like Camp Blanding have master the three:
