Need Some Help please!!!

OK, I have friends who airsoft, and I want to play airsoft as a sniper, but my parents wont let me get an airsoft gun! can you guys help me out? I need ways to persuade my parents to let me get an airsoft gun! just a heads up for somebody who is gunna say, "Tell your parents that if they let you get an airsoft gun then you will get really good grades!" I already get Honor Role every marking period. please help!

lol i have im all A student all through the semester every year.
but i would say get it with your own money. if you are alredy doing that then ask them why they wont let you have one . after you get that information tell me and ill help.

try the whole increasing responsibility card. it goes something like this (varies from parent to parent), mom dad i want to get an airsoft gun because i think it would help me understand what is needed to own and take care of something, like a car...........(if you already have a car then you should be outa your house soon right?). try going to the parent that is usually more open to your ideas most of the time(for me its my dad), then let him/her think about it and maybe even have him/her talk to the other spouse about it.

if your parents are anti gun explain to them the differences between airsoft/real guns. try to stress the fake side of airsoft and explain that you will handle you airsoft gun as a real gun.

thats all i got. i was lucky, my dads co-worker owns an airsoft store. Power points work well too.

Ouch, I've seen this problem a lot. Parents get very nervous when their kids start to talk about wanting a "toy" gun that looks real and fires little plastic pellets that can possibly do some damage if users are being irresponsible. So that's where I'd start - make them know you'll be responsible with it. Tell them you're not wanting it to run around town with it or shoot neighbors' animals. You want it to get in to a quickly growing sport that has many benefits to it. These aren't a bunch of kids running around shooting each other. Airsoft is an organized sport (or hobby) that involves many different positive effects that most parents want their children to experience - building teamwork, making new friends, building relationships with current friends, responsibility, and of course it's a great workout. Point out the realistic positive qualities of airsoft. There really are great ones!

Tell your parents you won't fire it in the house, you won't brag about it to anyone that you have an airsoft gun, and you definitely won't wield it around out in public. Tell them also, if you get desperate enough, that you won't even use the gun without their permission first.

You may want to even consider getting.... never thought I'd recommend this.... a cheap clear plastic replica. This way it's not a huge investment and it doesn't look realistic enough to scare your parents. Actually, I think one of our members - Torch - has a nice looking clear plastic one that I'm sure works perfectly for him. It's possible that if you start off with a cheaper, less realistic looking gun that your parents will warm up to the idea of you getting a better replica in the future.

well, i already did everything you said b4 u said it Torch, and the answer is that they don't like guns, and they don't like having a "gun replica" in the house. They also tell me about the incidents where a kid is shot by the cops because they would not put the gun down, or if anything, point the gun at the cops. i tell them that i am too smart for that, and i think they know it, but i also explained the safety precautions that you need in an airsoft game, the whole ballpark.

"If im not in public with my gun how will cops know i have 1 and shoot at me. And since im an all A student you of all people know i would never point a gun at a law enforcement officer of course.Also if i get a clear plastic gun would you think that would be better?I mean after all no one has a real gun thats clear."

just a thought you could try. lol good luck. oh and try not to sound like a bossy smarty pants or there is no hope of getting the gun.

i just had another idea .if you have,say, an uncle or somebody in the family that really intrested in guns,get them to get you the gun
although not fool proof it might work.

oh man...you could get in some deep crap for going behind your parent's back.you could also get your uncle in some deep crap to...those are the disclamers of that one,trust me i've done it before.

I think a good angle to take is to also talk about how you will require a good eye protetant ($20 JG facemask and goggles, or something not too extravigant) the fact that Protection and safety is something you see as a necessity always sits well when safety is always a major concern.

P.S. going behind that parents back and using another person (uncle, or whatnot) is in no way, shape, or form a good method of showing that you are responsible enough to handle a replica.

I think everyone knows you were kidding - although I can't say I haven't tried methods like that in my lifetime Never works out good. People were just trying to forewarn him not to get any ideas about actually trying a stunt like that - desperate people do desperate things!!

I think I would stress what DK said there. Putting an emphasis on the safety requirements for play could potentially go a long way in demonstrating that airsoft is a safe sport.

This would help us out a lot: What exactly are your parents problem with the sport. For ex: is it that they don't like guns, don't think it is safe, think it is childish???? Help us help you by giving us as much useful information as possible. lol

We are willing yto help but only if we know the issues if they are anti-gun then show them sites about airsoft safteey of airsoft and even use math , which i am not good at and thought that I would never say that in my whole life , but show them statistics , like , a guy has a chance of getting bite by a shark of 1 in 800 and driving to school is more riskiy than owning a gun replica . I am aware of the risk but I will be careful and protect my self by wearing thick clothes masks visors nect protectors and even gloves . Keep bugging them they will break through it may take a while though .

ok, well, yes they don't like guns. they absolutely DO NOT think that airsoft is childish, and they think that it is for people far older than me. Or at least the the famous line, "Well when you move out you can get one." I don't WANT TO WAIT 5 "Watch your language" YEARS!!! But anyway, they (at least my mom) thinks that it is not safe. My dad takes me paintballing, but he does not paintball. He will just wait from 10:00 hours to maybe 16:00 hours for me to finish paintballing. They won't even let me have a paintball gun. It is mostly my mom, because my dad knows that he would have fun going paintballing and airsofting with me, but my mom doesnt let me get a gun. And yet, she lets my dad decide if I can actually go paintballing. And thanks Alabama, I'll try statistics.

The best thing to do is just to get your friends parents who let there kids have airsoft guns and just let them talk with your parents. That will also help you to be better friends with the kids and have more airsoft fun.
Oh and NEVER FORGET YOUR EYE PROTECTION. I had a friend who got shot in the eye and lets just airsoft shotgun + eye = eyepatch and eyes that look like this.
oh and sniper is a very bad choice for someone new to airsoft make sure you don't want to be squadleader medic support rifleman or any of those things first this might help.

Why ur dads don`t wanna buy u a gun? Becouse of credit card?? thats easy there are too many sites were u can buy without using credit card ! you can pay in money =D dats good becouse when u have a age down the 18 u can buy with money and when u reach the 18 older u have credit card ... thats what am doing

I live down south and we have hunting rifles and shotguns everywhere . So I am lucky that my parents aren't anti - gun . I love airsoft so I am lucky that my parents allowed me to play .

invite your dad to play with you. take it as a form of bonding with your dad.

pros:
1. father and son bonding time
2. if your dad likes it, he will end up spending for you too.
3. it will give your dad some sort of assurance that you will be out of trouble since you will be pre-occuppied in a sport.
4. sell point, its better to get out and play airsoft than be tied to the computer or x-box the whole time.
