| Hey all. Just got back from a great weekend of hunting up past Bakersfield, CA. "Harvested" my first bird at about 8am yesterday. Went home with only 3 but still fun. Other than that, it was a relatively slow weekend...not too many birds down, but that might just be our bad shooting \ Theres was a leatherneck jackrabit out there that took 3 high-base magnum shells from about 20ft...and kept running. Never did get the sucker. Anyone else make it out this season yet? | |

| Well I field a Remington 11-87 with a camo finish. Used an Escort over-under for a bit too when I was in the orange grove after jackrabits. Had a 12 guage bird shot round in the top and a 12 guage magnum in the bottom But ya, the Remington got the most use. | |

| The Remington 11-87 is in my profile picture.
I love that sucker. Its got a real smooth action and a pretty simple gas system in it.
The Escort is still my favorite though I think just cuz its so solidly built.

| yeah i use a 30/30 and its a beautiful weapon. i think that a 30-06 is a little over powering and that a 30/30 will do just fine but i do have a 30-06. but you can't go wrong with a lever action 30/30 | |

| I hope to get out to the next deer, and maybe turkey season with a few friends. I need to buy a new shotgun though, all I have now is a really old Winchester M95... Its a 16G and probably worth more than all the cars in my garage.
Deer hunting is weak here in Ohio. Rifle's are banned from use, aka slugs at 100ft to get the job done. I want to get over to PA and do some small game hunting. Thats a real challenge there.

PWNED! i hunt partridge and deer....MOSSBERG 500 for birds and a 30/30 for deer Real men don't hide in trees, wear camo ( that the dear can't even see since thier color blind ), use various scents including deer in heat...why you would wear it the lord alone would know, and they most certianly do not brag about killing a little deer while sitting in a tree. Just my humble opinion...if hunting is your only way to get meat on the table go for it but if its a sport like it is for me and many others put the "hunt" part back in hunting. 1 a : to pursue for food or in sport <hunt buffalo> b : to manage in the search for game <hunts a pack of dogs> 2 a : to pursue with intent to capture <hunted the escapees> b : to search out : seek3 : to drive or chase especially by harrying <members…were hunted from their homes — J. T. Adams> 4 : to traverse in search of prey <hunts the woods

| ....i don't sit in trees or wear camo when i hunt. i stalk. only time i sit in one place and ware camo when i hunt is for turkeys. i also eat any game i kill. which is why i don't hunt rabbit dove or anything else like that. | |

yes, he currently has a remington, i think, 20 gauge pump action that he hasn't used in 30-40 years, he got it when he was ten in the 1940s at a general store used. He always shot small game like rabbits, my mom used to eat them for dinner after he had a hunt. so i believe a remington 20 gauge pump would be best choice.
