| edit: as the 47 above does not come with a charger and battery, i will not be getting that one. So basically it's between the 74 and the mk36. Also, my friend was telling me not to get it because Echo 1 sucks, yet ive heard alot of good stuff about them. Opinions welcomed | |

| Echo 1 is okay. Of course it is not going to compare when it comes to high end models like KWA on LiPo set ups. But Echo 1 is a good step up from the usual backyard warrior LPEG's and Springers. And is upgradeable like high end models.
And yes, unless you already have a battery of your own get the battery combo. However the chargers that come with your gun I would only use on the initial charge, then from then on use a Intelligent charger that supports tamiya. Nothing fancy, straight forward smart chargers go for under $30. Not a big deal and can save the life of your battery.
Have your friends looked into getting involved in the active airsoft community..like fields/facilities/locally based forums?

| not sure, although my one friend is very into airsoft telling me to go for more expensive brands. And this being my first gun, i really don't want to spend too much because, what if i don't like it. But i might talk to them about getting into larger communities. | |

| I understand. Thats exactly how I felt when I was making my first "which gun" decisions. I didn't want a PoS gun, but I wanted something that I could work with for a little while until I started playing just about every weekend and obligating money to the sport.
For the Sh1t Happens reason, I got a JG G36C (G608) still have it.
Leave all of your options open though I don't think you want to spend above $200 on it. I would explore some more reviews on the three of those guns. There is a whole variety of brand names within your price range. Some high end names do make plastic "sport-line" or "combat machine" models, avoid these, their crap. You would be better off with a CM028 (CYMA AK 47).
Earlier you linked to the E1 G36, I honestly prefer the quality of the ABS on the JG model over the E1. But you will need to reshim and install metal bushings for the JG model, which all of the new ones offer 7mm bushing shells in stead of the usual 6 mm shell.

| Get the Echo 1 G36c, I have one and I apsolutely love it! Its a little on the heavy side but thats ok, just throw on a foregrip and its unnoticable. It shoots great and the body is very hard and Durable, never once does it ever feel like its going to break. The Foldable stock is very very sturdy and strong and never feels like its going to fold in on its self and never flexes side to side. Over all, I say get the G36, because I apsolutely love mine! | |

| i compared guns, and the 74u i showed above is 100 feet range. But the mk36 is 120 feet. Will that extra 20 feet make a difference for a first time gun? They both look great overall but this is a very hard decision | |

| Theres too many variables so the listed ranges are estimates based on the FPS so I like to go with the one that either has the higher FPS or is the right weapon for what I need be it for a loadout design or just to help my Airsoft community. So.......just pic one you like more as your first rifle. | |

| Eeeeewwww... I'm sorry mate, but I believe it is a known fact that the AKS 74 is the uuuuuggggllllieest firearm on the face of this earth. You should have warned me before I followed the link. I think my eyes just threw up in their mouths Besides the looks, I think you will be entirely happy with Cyma. I recommend any of the Cyma "budget-series" (M14, AK-74/47, etc.) for first time buyers/players...although I think my eyes would be happier if you went with a standard AK-47 | |

From my experiences (hands on and AS gossip), I do think that any of the Cyma AK's are great. I have one (Cyma AK-74 classic) on hand to loan to new players and I've used it a few times in mil-sim roleplay scenarios (it's also in my avitar picture)

| so would i be better with the mk36 or the ak74 i posted? Both look good, but im not so sure about the plastic on the g36 and not real sure how good the cyma is. I know at this point since i have narrowed it so much, that it is basically personal choice, but it is still a tough decision. | |

| Well if the MK36 is on the table, go with that. It's Echo1, what more can you ask for in an entry level AEG. | |

Well what would you think is better mk36 or the ak74 MK36. Lighter. Longer. Faster. Layout is quite ergonomical. High tolerance for upgrades/modifications.

| ya, although i was more interested in more heavy and realistic guns although i most likely don't want to be lugging around a 9 lb gun xD. So if i were to go with the mk36 then grab some TSD .20s and anything else? | |
