| GRRR I WAS GOING TO SAY THAT I SWEAR. I bet you didn't know THIS: The term "sniper" originated from some dudes in the Colonies who would hunt for those things. Hunters of snipes were known as "snipers" and in the Revolutionary (or Civil?) war, these hunters used their skills to take out British officers. Thus, snipers were born Thank you National Geographic | |

Thank you National Geographic Ya sorry, we did all know that @Zane: I'd be interested in putting shot into one...but I don't think they're flappin around on the west coast. They're perfect size for the new dog, we're still training him on birding. Say hello to Benelli: I'll stick to dove until I can finance a trip to the west coast. California is becoming China...you hear about the 50 round a month limit? We can only legally purchase 50 rounds of any kind a month, no more than 1000 rounds in your posession at any time, and have to be fingerprinted/background-searched EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU PURCHASE AMMUNITION. I go through 50 rounds of .45ACP in a little under 5 minutes!

@Zane: Are those guys fun to go after? What kind of firepower do you throw at 'em? 10-20 guage. Bird shot. Depending on the area, shot must be steel or tungsten...especially in California, where lead is mostly outlawed altogether. Take a hunter safety class. Get your hunting license, takes about 4 hours and is about $60 for paperwork and stuff. And make sure you can get your hands on a shot-slinger. As far as actually shooting and hunting...go somewhere else. California is hheell. 50 round a month limit, strict bird regulation, and PETA is constantly firebombing hunters.

Ya, I'll leave that to the NRA and the NWTF. They're both PO'd about it and I expect some serious legal action. When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.

| Beutifull dog you got there, I supose you will be training it for flushing? Once I settle down after college I plan on buying a Brittany, getting my general falconry license and spending my days hunting for queil. can't wait. Also I was in South Dakota
Yeah sorry if this is political but PETA are a bunch of F*****G morons, hunters are the reason most conservation laws in the world exist today, we don't want stuff dead becouse we can't hunt it anymore, hence things like trout unlimited, streams unlimited. ALso the reason most hunters with land take extremly good care of thier land and wildlife, so that there is somthing left for the future.
Yeah California is weird, theres three cities that are heavily liberal and the rest, like orange county, are heavy conservative. Problem is the people in the cities outnumber the others -_-'
And agian with PETA, they might get publicity but they never realy pass anything becouse thier so radical, just like sea shepards...thier work might be good but thier bloody pirates/eco terrorists in the way thier doing it.
And heres my bash on the NRA...I don't mind that thier trying to protect my right to own a gun..but it really pisses me of when they send me little flyers telling me who to vote for. And there has to be a point, sorry I don't need a full auto 50cal for any reason what so ever.

Yup, we've got a yellow lab doing extremely well with it and I expect his "little brother" to pick it up pretty fast. We're running him in the park with various bird stand-in's and he's picking up the retrieving aspect pretty well. - Zane wrote:

I know what you mean. I shoot practical pistol, trap/skeet, and hunt...but the second the government starts classifying my firearms as "assault weapons", theres reason to fight back. A 50cal, no matter how fun to shoot, should be illegal. I'm not even of legal age to vote, but I'm still getting those "future voter" fliers. It's a ton of bull in my opinion. As long as my handguns, shotguns, and mid-bore rifles are still legal, I'm good.

Link One And im actualy looking into aquiring my dog from these guys I'll post some references to some good literature on the topic once I get home. For the most part, training isn't even necessary to any great extent. 99% of what a bird-dog does is instinct.
