| Thought I'd share some info with you guys: Desertico ItalianoUnable to resist the draw of cool new camouflage patterns, I was drawn like from a Death Star tractor beam to the small setup belonging to a company called Special Operations Department — an inartful name, for sure, until you meet the product technical manager Max Valente and realize his company is Italian.
Max showed me an interesting pattern his company developed for the Italian special operations forces called Vegicam. He wouldn’t let me take a pic of the scheme and the only reason he talked about it was because I was snooping around his display and pulled a shirt in the Top Secret camo out of his duffel bag.
The camo was basically like a digitized multicam, but Valente said his camo is deployed to Afghanistan and “works much better than the MultiCam.” I asked him how he could say that and he just said photosimulation tests have proven it. Sorry I can’t provide a photo, but suffice it to say the camos I’m seeing here emulate the Crye colors, but veer away from the organic shapes.
Valente also pointed out his Desertico scheme, which is pictured above, and his intriguing Hybrid Coyote Sage solid color that he said spec ops and gendarmerie units wanted as an alternative to blatantly military patterns, particularly for PSD missions and semi-covert operations in town. All materials are Nomex FR.- from defensetech.orgMore to come

| Meh. The Army keeps swinging and missing, over and over again. They just can't seem to realize they can't make a Universal Camoflauge. | |

| In my opinion it looks ugly. Looks like someone just took some pastels and smeared it all over the uniform. | |

| Of course, camoflauge is not meant to look pretty. Gotta remember that, haha | |

| I actually think it is a very nice looking camo. I live in washington, where CadPat or Woodland is the only camo that really works well, but if I lived in a more arid area, I think I would consider a camo like this. An ugly camo is a good camo. Same for an ugly gun. haha | |

| Looks ok i guess, i want to see a higher quality picture and some terrain shots of it before believing it's better then MultiCam.
The A-TACS though looks real nice and i can see it blending into urban areas, arid, and probably do woodland to an ok extent as well. If anything it's better looking then that sniper bait ACU the Army has now.

| Haha i know! I never liked it and knew from the start it was a huge mistake and wouldn't blend into much of anything. I was was so happy when i first heard the DOD was looking for new camo a few months back. | |

| It's not bad in urban environments, but it's not great either | |

| Yeah but even then it's limited to what kind of urban environment you're in. UCP works ok if you're fighting in like say a major American or European city where there's lots of light grey colors and steel. It goes to "Watch your language" in smaller more rural cities and cities built in an arid environment that use a lot of tan and lightish brown colors. | |

| Tell me about it. Here in Albuquerque, your best bet is Desert MARPAT. | |

| The sooner the DOD realizes there is no one magic pattern that'll blend into every environment perfectly the better, the kind that does is called a cloaking device and that is still very experimental. The Brits summed it up quite well i think with their new camo, http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8422942.stm. | |

| I thought that ACU only worked well for desert, it's too bright for woodland. I agree with that you cannot have a universal camouflage, JUST MAKE 3 TYPES!!!!
Urban: (Greys/Black/White) Woodland: MARPAT Desert: Whatever....
On the subject of ugly camouflage, FLECKTARN!!!! I like it, but since I use an M4, a Bundeswehr outfit with an SPR...not working well...

| Flecktarn is awesome in a woodland setting. There's three of us who use it in my group and we can become nearly invisible in the woods. There's one guy who does wear UCP and yeah again for the billionth time it just doesn't work. Camo is really a complicated science when it comes to designing and choosing it. | |
