So I kinda just wanted to make this thread to list some of the percussion devices and grenade simulators that those of us that live in counties with strict firework policies can use. I'll post a few and you guys can go ahead and list some of your own that you've found or come up with.
-Baking soda / vinegar "bomb bags" Sure you can make your own with a water bottle or something...but these are made to go off at a consistant pressure/time/loudness. I played with some from this magic shop in NorCal and they're actually REALLY loud. Wouldnt mind using em as a percussion bomb...after spray painting them a different color. "Oh look at me I have little bomb thingys with jet planes on em!" haha
-Pull String "Alarms" 85 dbls doesnt seem like alot (about the same noise level of a busy freeway) but it can defintely be heard. Use these to set up trip-wire area denial alarms or even count them as claymore kills. Strap a couple together on a trip wire like some users have suggested and you are set to go!
-Thunder B Sound Effects (CO2) Use em as stun grenades or set up rules to count em as kills. Put a bit of baby powder inside for added blast realism. Heard alot of good things about em. Only downside is you have to purchase extra shells (they cannot be reused).
-Glow Sticks Use em in night games as simulated grenades (radius rule in effect).

Stick a firecracker and maybe some BBs in a film tube thingy and light it, those things are loud!

No fireworks!! haha. I researched the pull string thingys and they're not technically fireworks because of the size of the charge (tiny). They're no more of a firework than those popper things you throw on the ground. I don't recommend using fireworks along with bbs anyway...all I can imagine is bb's fragmenting and cutting people up pretty bad.
Do I have to bring up the story if the loon that brought pipe bombs to our field?

Hmm, good point... And you already said the waterbottle bomb... You could make a waterbottle "Fire extinguisher" on a peice of fishing line so when they pull it it will hose 'em down!

Best defense against trip-wires...
No...not having little kids run in front of you to set them off...
SILLY STRING!!!
Just spray a stream before entering a doorway or crossing a suspicious barricade to check for near-invisible trip wires!

I don't see what's wrong with using children to locate mines....

Hahah true. We've been using children to "locate" landmines for years!

You could use paintball grenades. Basically, Its a balloon. When the pin is pulled, it allows the grenade to open, except that a rubber rand is still holding the end closed. This allows it to be safely thrown. Once it hits the ground, the rubber band will fly off, and the rapidly deflating balloon will spin everywhich way, spraying paint the whole time. If you get painted, you're out. They retail for like $7 each, and they dress them up to look pretty realistic.

I've never heard of using glow sticks as grenades. I've used them to mark rooms and hallways as clear, but never as grenades. Good idea, Durkee!

Haha this one guy dug a pit mid-game and piled a bunch of high smoke-generating leaves into it, and lit that biatch. He disappeared and then came up behind me and got me out haha. We were all just like, "Uh... Should we put that out?"

all i can really say is water balloons, thats made out of a heavy rubber, so it doesnt pop while in motion, also a pouch is nice to keep them in thats water proof. throw it, you get wet your out. if they don't call out listen for "ahh that feels great, do it again"

Alternative Grenades,
Tennis Balls filled with sand, Added weight reduces the distance thrown and limits the amount carried.
EWD´s
Flash Bulb trip wires, Door Alarms, Kiddie Toe Poppers ( those little paper thingies you throw on the ground that go Bang, Spread them in Hallways, rooms, trails and so on....)
Restriction of movement or Channalization,
Paper `` Mine ´´ signs, Yellow for Gas, Red for AP, Green for AT. Restriction or Warning Tape, Red/White striped, Police, Do Not Cross.
Just a few of the things we use.

Never would have thought of flash bulb trip wires! I like the idea of channelization...as long as it is limited (meaning, one team can't just surround their AO with yellow signs ).
Would you guys be interested if I made a video series on Youtube featuring all these alternatives? I think it would be a great resource.

Wait...before I get all crazy...how exactly would one go about making a flash bulb trip wire mine? I get the basic idea...but I'm quite lost as to how one would deploy it...can I get some help, Slob?
