| Okay guys, do you think painting parts on a gun will raise or lower the value? Right now, I'm trying to get the max amount of value out of my gun for when I sell it, and I'm wondering if spray painting some of the parts will raise the price any. What do you guys think? Yay or nay? | |

| Well it really comes down to the personal preference of the buyer, in my opinion. He could either say, "I like that it has a paint job, so I'll pay you a higher price," or "Ugh.. What did you do to this thing? I want it for $20 off the original price." So.... yeah. | |

| Generally though, what do you think? Say I painted a few parts on the gun tan, would you pay more or less? | |

| I'll say again, and this is my personal opinion. I would pay the original agreed price, because I can always re-paint it, I don't play in a desert area (anymore). But if some jerk is buying he might want it cheaper... I don't know | |

| I always reduce the price by $50 when it's painted, just so they can pay for the paint to get it back to the original color if they wish. It will almost always reduce the price unless you can find the right person. | |

| For me, it depends on the quality/type of the paintjob. | |

| I wouldn't do it. It's a gamble. It may warrant a higher price if the buyer wants a specific color and doesn't know how to paint, but a shrewd buyer will look at a paint job and ask for a discount. You could mention in the description that you'll paint if desired? | |

| Well, chances are I'll be selling it at my local field with a few other goodies. I'm starting to lean away from the whole idea now, though | |

Ya I wouldnt. Paint is a turn-off to the average buyer...personally I would never buy a painted gun...but thats just me.

| Okay then, I'm changing the topic of this thread.
What are some good, easy (meaning cheap) ways to bring up the value of my gun? I want to sell it for the max amount of profit, and I'll prolly be selling it with a one-point sling, a barrel cover, a red dot, four hi-cap mags, a tan Condor triple AK mag pouch, and possibly a CA SOCOM bipod for the helluvit.
edit: oh, and an 8.4v 1200 batt

| Selling things separately will usually get you more money. | |

| Should I just sell the rifle, four mags, and batt as a package and sell the other items seperately? | |

| Seems reasonable to me. That's probably what I would do. You could also offer to give people a package "deal" with one or two of the other items. Either that or just offer them at a low enough price, they'll sell themselves. | |

| I buy cheap things that make the gun unique (a folding carry handle like on a Barrett 82A1), or include gloves or something like that. | |

| Well, I wanted to do things that are cheap, like spray painting the gun. I can go down to Pep Boys and buy a can of Matte Tan spray paint for $6.50. Besides, where I would put a folding carry handle on a G36C? haha
Thanks for the gear idea though, I'll look through all my crap tomorrow and see what I don't need

| Quality is the buzz word, Anybody can take a few cans or Krylon or CARC paint and paint a gun, but how good is the Paintjob when it is done, and can the Gun still be used in an everyday game ? As far as tastes go, the paint job will also be influenced by the type of games you Play, Speed, Mil-Sim, Role Playing, Zombie, Doomsday........ don't think anybody ( except maybe me ) would be takinging a Hello Kitty Shot Gun, to a Mil-Sim. Then how Unique is the Paint Job ?? An everyday, run of the mill, nothing special paint job is not going to increase the value, and may actualy make it harder to sell the gun, but if you can offer something special, exciting, unique, then it yould greatly increase the value of the gun. | @SnoSnipe Seems like a waste of space to me, but whatever floats your boat, haha
@Slob I'm trying to get more into MilSim, so maybe I should try a tan/OD tiger stripe sort of deal?

[img][/img] Slob that wouldnt happen to be your rifle would it? Would you mind directing me to the painter if it is? haha. Back on topic, I feel that a painted gun lowers value, i would buy items seperatly so that i can customizeparts to my liking, and a tigerstripe would be good for milsim. - Quote :
- Not my Gun, and the Painter is a Player here in Germany ( Camaro is his playing name ), he does do international orders, that rifle was one of his first, depending on the theme or design he can put any idea to paint and transfer it to your gun. I just posted the picture as an example as to how a quality piece of work can improve the value of a gun. ( slob212 )

| Eh... If it's true MilSim, I wouldn't stray away from just plain ol' BLACK guns (unless the real version is a different color than black) And by the way, Jarhead999... How much ye be sellin' this for? | |

| Well, yeah, black will work, but if you look at a lot of pics coming in from Iraq and Afghanistan, you'll see painted weapons and colored parts. I'm not sure how much I'll be selling this for, though. I'll prolly do the package of the rifle, four mags, and a batt for around $120. ($90 for the rifle, a mag, and a batt, and $10 bucks for each seperate mag | |
