ballistic plate inserts, yay or nay?

Ive heard some disappointing reviews about fake ballistic plates that you can buy online. But I was wondering if any one has them for their plate carriers & their opinion of them. Or does any body have any good or innovative ideas for fake plates, i.e foam and cardboard, Maybe??

I personally think they're stupid. You don't have to worry about a BB killing you, so why would you want armor?

It makes your plate carrier stand up when u lay it down.

The purpose behind plates is to give the appropriate shape/firmness to a plate carrier, not provide protection. I suggest using them if you have some extra cash to spare.

You may wish to PM sniper_32, I believe he has some.

I plan to get some eventually to provide more rigidity. What have you heard that was disappointing MR.IV?

the techie at my local airsoft shop, said SAPI plates are " complete waste of money, and only F@^1*$7# idiots but them...if you want plates get the real plates." and another guy thats selling a set of plates said he used them once and they served its purpose but didn't make much of a difference.

I still want to buy some because like you stated, to provide more rigidity and form to my vest. plus i don't feel like paying $200+ for a real 6 pound plate, since im only getting shot with BBs and not real bullets.

dude don't do that, I have custom LEXAN plates for my carrier, VERY light and VERY durable

welp, had help from my dad, but you can get LEXAN at uhh home depot or places like that i think, our riot shield for OP Red Dawn is made of the same stuff it can take a beating!

nice, yeah ive been trying to think up some ideas...im planning to go to my local Home Depot and Lowes to check out what i can use. how much did you pay for the LEXAN plastic? and niceeee a riot shield...do you have Pics by any chance??

i can get some pics really fast!! and i think the riot shield was 30 bucks for the LEXAN which is a pretty big piece

for the LEXAN couple more bucks for the metal and stuff but yea that big of a piece for around 30 bucks
