| Okay so today my aunt, uncle, and 82yr old grandparents got in a bad car crash. Here's how it went: My aunt was driving, perfectly normal. Then all of a sudden a douchebag in a huge bright yellow pickup truck tries to merge into their lane, but his head is turned around while he's merging. So he rams into the back of my grandma's car, which sends them flying into a tree, which makes them spin 900° and into the sidewalk. Fuel was leaking already (see pictures) and the airbags were deployed. Everyone called out to say they were alright, and my grandfather was frantic, he's mentally ill. My aunt and uncle pulled my grandmother out of the wreckage and some passers by helped get my grandfather out. He can't walk at all on his own, so they had to have 2 guys carry him to the sidewalk. Then someone yells out, "The car's on fire! Get him farther away!" so they had to move him. The car ignited and the engine was flaming. So someone called 911 and I heard the sirens from my house which was like 300 yards away. I decided to check it out on a police scanner application for my iPod Touch. It said there was a crash on a close by street. 15 minutes later my mom tells me what happened, that it was my family in the accident. So.. that's pretty weird. The jackass in the truck was fine, and my family members were taken to the hospital to be checked out. They turned out with scrapes, cuts, bruises, and contusions. The car was totaled (see pics) so we have to get a new one. There was a dozen police cars on scene (most of which left shortly after), several ambulances, and fire department paramedics. Summary of impacts: Truck hit rear of car, front of car hit tree, car spun. Seatbelt against chest, airbag against face. And now for the pics taken by another uncle about 45 minutes after the crash: Origin skids when they were hit: Hit into the tree and left some damage: Fuel leakage: You can't tell but the front-end is extremely mashed up too. Car is totaled, we won't be seeing it again.

| No explosion, the flames didn't reach the gas tank... Just the radiator or something on the engine was burning for a couple minutes. | |

| What about the man in the truck? Legal action should be taken; considering the circumstances you have a good chance at winning a court battle. | |

Well both parties filing the regular insurance claims and stuff. I don't think a trial is necessary because there are more important things that should be decided in those courtrooms.

| Yeah sorry the little frivouilous lawsuits are gonna kill America..if the guilty party pays all bills as req by law I don't see going further...and if someones permanently disabled they need to be paid the money they would have made at thier current job till they retired...a 40 year old dude making 30k a year does not need to be given 500 mil...jus tmy two cents.
Srry about the accident..thats some scary "Watch your language"..one of my greatest fears is if im driving a motorcycle and some cadger on a cell phone merges into me..just like that guy (granted he wasn't on a phone but distraction is distraction
