Bruin Bhangra '10

As some of you may know, I'm a big fan of bhangra...and I attended the BruinJR Bhangra competition this year to watch some of my friends perform. They ended up getting first place in the Jr. catagory. Real fun event.

Anyway, they finally sent me the video and I thought I would share...hopefully someone out there can appreciate it as I do Smile

In pink, Harjot...in yellow is his twin brother, Ratantjot.

And then their oldest brother, Jahal was in the '09 college competition.
Also took first place the year before.

No, I'm a 3rd generation German/Irish-American.
Plus Punjab isn't in India...its a province in Pakistan.

Btw: bruin mean bear...and bhangra mean?

Bruin is only in the title because the contest takes place on the UCLA campus (their mascot = bear).
Bhangra is just the style of dance.

The province of Punjab IS in India so.....It does look distinctly Indian to me for some reason...but I suppose if you enjoy it I can't begrudge you of that....ON TO THE NEXT THING!

There are 2 Punjab provinces on the Indian sub-continent...but the one I refer to is in Pakistan.
There a Punjab in India as well, but this style of Bhangra is Pakistani...theres some difference in the music and steps.
