I'm not a fan of rap but I want it. And I still listin to some metal but I've mostly listin to punk now, so mostly undeground stuff.

Same here, almost exactly. I dislike most rap still though because I have to be honest 3/4 of it is some guy talking about how many women he has violated.

But how is Eminem stoner stuff? I mean most of his songs tell a heartfelt story (as mentioned before) about his struggles and some of the horrible stuff he's been through, or his family's been through.

And through it all, Classic Rock is ALWAYS a huge WIN in my book.

Honestly, the reason i listen to rock, metal, hardcore over rap is because im a musician (I play guitar and drums) so I pay attention more to the instruments than I do the lyrics.

Crowbar, so do I... I'm a drummer (duh?) so I don't really pay attention to lyrics (especially when no one can understand them anyway because it's a death metal song)

Another thing about rap, I don't understand why cops don't just arrest rappers.... In their "music" they practically confess the crimes they've committed and keep on spitting out words like it doesn't matter.

Because its not hard evidence. I'm sure there is a more "lawyer-ey" way of putting it but thats the jist.

Besides they would also have to arrest 90% of the metal/scremo/hard rock bands; they all sing about fighting or killing people....

Also not all rappers rap in the ganster rap genre. Theres actually allot of rappers that detest violence.... Actually most rappers detest violence in most of their songs... Lil Wayne's (ft the game) "my life" is all about how he wished he would have never been born in the hood and hates death... You guys just need to dig deeper .

Most metal songs like that are something like, "I want to smash your face to the ground, use the hammer to pound you down," but they use the word WANT as in it didn't happen yet. If you want to argue about the different genres of music I suggest your bring back the old "music?" thread. Feel free to argue in there. This thread is about a specific artist and free rap...
