| Since im currently in the process of beocming a US citizen, and have been studying for the test, I started to wonder...how many Americans know the answers to these questions? (There are 100 I will ask 20 a week, 5 cookies to whoever does the best each week...20 bonus cookies for whoever does the best on all 4)
Ill post te questions now, and later the answers. Take it like a test and don't use the web..lets see who does best xD (Thier all 1-3 line answers) (First 20 are very easy...gets harder after this) Good luck, and just like our sport this depends on the honor system so don't cheat!

How many amendments does the Constitution have? 29 i think 8. What did the Declaration of Independence do? Broke away from Britian and told them that they don't own us anymore 9. What are two rights in the Declaration of Independence? Right of revolution is all I remember 10. What is freedom of religion? Don't remember 11. What is the economic system in the United States? Socialist now. I won't even correct that. 12. What is the “rule of law”? Nope 13. Name one branch or part of the government. Executive branch, Legislative branch, Judicial Branch 14. What stops one branch of government from becoming too powerful? Nope 15. Who is in charge of the executive branch? President 16. Who makes federal laws? Legislative branch (i think) 17. 11. What is the economic system in the United States? Right now? I believe it's called "Helll"
12. What is the “rule of law”? Lol idunno...
13. Name one branch or part of the government. Judicial.....Legislative...Executive.
14. What stops one branch of government from becoming too powerful? the system of Checks and Balances, where each branch performs "checks" on the other branches in order to "balance" the power distributed between the 3 branches so that everything is constitutional
15. Who is in charge of the executive branch? The president and his advisors
16. Who makes federal laws? Congress/House of Representatives
17. What are the two parts of the U.S. Congress? Senate and the House of Representatives?
18. How many U.S. Senators are there? A lot.
19. We elect a U.S. Senator for how many years? ....6 years?

Honostly I think there should be a rule....the day you turn 18 you need to take a basic civics test like this...main reason I decided to ask this is becouse I saw that a while back a study was done that concluded that 3/4 of Americans would not be able to pass this test...kinda scared me. | |

| I did quite well thank you very much, have to admit, some caused me to really dig way back into the old school locker.
If Zane dosnt mind me stealing his Thread for a minute, #20 is the most important for you that are planning on going into the Military, Know them !! Know thier Tele #, and thier addresses. If you should ever have a problem that your CoC can\'t solve, you contact your Government Rep, they are required by Law to Personaly respond within 24 hours, and if your proplem requires a Congressional Inquiry, your CoC has 48 hours to solve the Problem. | |
