ED-1

So guys a few years ago I started doing 24 hour+ days during the summers. I don\'t do this for gaming or anything like that, more of a mental toughness thing. Today was ED-1(endurance day 1). I'm almost at 19 hours now, I should have a looong day of 33 hours. Its probably the longest first day of any of the years yet. Does anyone else do this? I actually started because I heard in allot of the tech schools for all the crazy MOS they make you stay up for more than 24 hours at a time. I could probably not function with the physical activity that they do now, but I like getting used to staying awake.

Does anyone else do this? Or am I just crazy?

If i wasn't working wacky hours in the heat this summer i'd for sure give that a try.

I'll give it a go when I return to California. I was a strange little kid...I remember doing stuff like that alot. I was convinced I was gunna be a sniper...so I spent 16 hours laying prone in my friend's back yard to prove myself hahah. Those were the days

I kind of do stuff like that all the time. Insomnia always helps!

HAHAHHA i think you have to be a little strange to want to play airsoft the way people look at me in my town LOL.....but I have done those kind of marathons before.....I would stay up for a day or two then sleep for an hour then drink a dew then watch ALL the LOTRs. I love that series!! Also when I was in school I would do my own little patience spells and some breathing excersies to prepare for the field....it worked great....but I always seem to explode on people at random times.....


On a random note....I heard that a Radio guy went slightly insane after for staying on the air for 13 days...or something like that...

One day when I was 13 I woke up at 10AM, went to my friends house, and went to bed at 5:30PM the day after. I would have stayed up but I started hallucinating and imagined I shot my neighbor.

So 31.5 hours is my record haha. I'll probably try to beat it some time this summer.

If I had something to do during the marathon thing maybe it wouldnt be hard but playing Xbox at 3AM gets taxing because of the Mexicans and Canadians that are on....and kids from Jersey!!! OMG I hate Jersey!! if it was an airsoft OP or something it would be no problem...

Well I have a southern accent, a northern accent, and a british accent, which I switch off of a lot (i am actually losing the british one). OH! and a fake-russian accent

The longest I've managed is 157 hours. I think the worst part of insomnia is when days start blending together and you lose track of the days. I hate that!

I wonder what causes insomnia?

edit: I have a Texas accent and a New Mexican accent (they do have accents! it's sort of like a mix between Texas and Mexican accents)

Im pretty good with my accents....I still haven\'t mastered Liverpool....they really are speaking gibberish!

Pretty much. Except my New Mexican accent tends to be more Texan than Mexican.

Dumb idea to me. That's just me, maybe I'm the only "young man" posting here but as a teen were supposed to get about 10 hours a night.
Until about the early 20's does the body stop releasing the hormones that cause you to grow, etc.
Those are released mostly at night.
Depriving yourself of sleep is bad, instead I think it much more useful to "train" yourself to sleep in uncomfortable situations.

xD stupid diabetic people...

Creed, I'm 18.... I've pretty much stopped growing for now.... Also, doubt a collective week will translate into any serious medical problems.... I only get roughly 7 hours of sleep a night during the school week anyways(0530-2200 every day).... This really isn't to bad on me...
edit: in 10 minutes it will have been 36 hours. I could do another day easily. but gonna go ahead and take a sleep break....

Did you write out a Schedule/Plan ?

Staying awake is easy for most people, few have a hard time doing a day or 2, but stretch it out over a long period of time and most will crumble in the middle of day 3, at 96 hours the body goes into an `` Auto Pilot ´´ mode, and unless you keep the brain active, it will shut down and take whatever sleep it can get, keeping the mind active is the trick to being successful.

The most I ever managed was 39 hours before I said "F*** it" and went to bed. Most of the time though, I just sleep when I want and wake up when I have to.

Exactly!! I never have anything to do for long....I especially couldnt do it during school cause that would destroy me instantly!
