| Well since you have a higher budget would you want a gas bolt action or a just plain old bolt action? | |

| You could always invest in a TM VSR-10 and upgrade it. But for anymore ?'s you should probably ask someone other than me as I have very little experience with this. Plus you probably just want the input from one person. | |

| You're not going to have much fun with those $1000 "custom awesomesauce" guns they're selling on Red Wolf or ASGI or any major retailer. Your best option is to buy a good base gun ($200-400), then customize and upgrade the heck out of it yourself (DIY-$600).
$1000 for a bolt action sniper rifle? Idunno about that...after a week or two, you'll wish you didn't.
I'm just being entirely honest.
You get to a point where the performance difference between a $400 springer and a $1000 springer is not worth your hard earned cash.

| PSG would be the highest-reccomnded by me, as I've actually seen it in action and it's from a very reputable company. | |

| one of my friends had a sniper and all he did was get shot. perfect working gun but as you can figure not alot of action for a sniper. he'd get maybe one or two kills a day. i would just go for a LONG barreled assault rifle. | |

Yep that's pretty much how sniping always is in airsoft. Yet the masses come flocking to the sniper rifles...

I totally agree with durkee on this one (suprise suprise ). if I had 1000 dollars, I would get the most awesome upgrades ever!! great, now I get to go to bed wishing I had 1000 bucks.

Well to be entirely blunt...if I wanted to drop $1000 on a gun, it would not be a springer. No matter how much $$$ you put into "upgrades"...there's only so much you can do with the humble metal spring and still keep within the bounds of field rules and legality. My $1000 purchase? KWA M4 (~$300)...then all kinds of other crap (Pantac rig, misc crap, etc...) with the leftovers. Who am I kidding...$300 on a KWA...then the rest goes into tuition and gas. Think about it...in all reality, you're dropping $1000 bucks on a metal spring in a fancy housing. If that's not Western indulgence and needless expenditures, I don't know what is.
