Well, first i don't know if this should go here or General Airsoft Discussion...so if so, sorry for making you move it, but i gotta give you things to do sometimes Admin Very Happy .

Anyway...i was wondering if anyone has had any experience with ICS. I am currently looking for a new gun and was thinking about trying ICS. They have that split gearbox, which i hear is nice. Just wanted to see if any of you tried them and such.

Well ICS is known for their reliability in electrical...as for mechanical, it is a clone gun.

but the advantages, full metal body, metal bushings/shims, reliable wiring harness, split MB.

You get what you pay for. If you can afford it, then it is the better buy unless you can achieve the same results if not better by buying a CA or E1 and modding it to your likeness.
If your new, I wouldn't invest that much just yet, get a feel for a E1 or something similar then move on to higher brands. And if you really want to get into it, modding your highends and using the money from selling your MPEG's lol.

Ya....Ive nbeen aroung a bit. I had an JG MP5 and a UTG L96....but i no longer have them. I wasn't really dedicated to sniping...i like it, but its not for me yet. Im thinking about a DMR or something. I was thinking about getting an E1 and moding it, but im not the best at doing tech work, so i was gonna get on that wont need much internal upgrades. Which do you think has the better internals...CA or ICS?

my input on the ICS m4.. It uses their own design for the hop assembly NOT TM type and it is made of plastic. According to a close frend who is an ICS Fanatic (he has several) followed by G&G. The guns are good. Downside is the hop assembly easily breaks since the material used is not sturdy enough for high rated springs (I think he usually puts in SP140-SP150 in his aegs).

However, there is a remedy to it if it does break.. This means being able to install a one piece hop assembly. I however, I have not learned it yet since I personally avoid ICS aeg's. The downside to this mod is that your ICS mags becomes useless...

Not sure if ICS has come up with a metal hop assembly for their m4's... now that would be great..

hope this helps...

I know CA may have some replacement metal hop's for a M4 receiver.

ICS, Agvantages, are all stated above, Split Gearbox, Good Wiring, Fairly reliable,

Disadvantages, Split Gearbox, Fairly reliable, weak hop- up, and ICS works only with ICS, now time to explain Very Happy ,

The split GB is a great Idea, but you have to keep in mind what tuning level you are going to, example: you leave the lower GB standard, and decide to tune the Upper GB, Spring, piston, Cylinder, Cylinder head as on, as you stay within reason you will not have a problem, but if you loose track or forget what you have in your spare tuned upper GB´s you could very well end up destroying the entire GB. So how do we remedy this, we have spare Higher tuned Lower GB´s to match the performance of our tuned Upper GB´s.

For an upper class Clone, I expect more from an ICS as to what the deliver, their apperance is nice, Metal bodies for the most part are excellent, but when you start to have problems with the GB, it just appears that it is always one thing after another, and this is before the GB is ever opened or even lightly tuned. Like I said Fairly reliable.

Thier Hop-Up is probably the weakest on the market, it will break just by changing the inner barrel if you are not overly careful.

ICS is for ICS, if you start changing and mixing parts that are not ICS, you will find that you will be using the dremel or other hand tools to make them fit, and even after all the mods, the gun may up being worse off than when you started.

Me personaly, I don´t like them, and never will, ICS (I) (C)an´t (S)tand this gun !!!!
but what the hey, One man´s poison, is another man´s pleasure !!

hahahah... well said... (this post really made me laugh).. betwn ICS I go for G&G

but I do give them credit for some of their internal parts that can be used with TM compatible gbox and externals...

Examples:
1. ICS brass bushings, easy to work with
2. ICSm4 front grip
3. ICS spring guides
4. ICS 5mp5 folding stocks (for pdw) wil fit TM and China aeg's
5. anti-reversal latch
6. spring set

i have an ics l85 a2 and the gun is great. i understand that they have a few moding issues (the hoppup mainly) but they really don't need any moding. out of the box they shoot 380-400fps for 200ft. they all have turbo 3000 motors (one of the best motors out there). solid metal bodies and realistic weight.
in my experiance bone-stock they out perform-- CA, g&g (depending on model), ecco 1, and other mpegs modded to the gills.
now i like ics but don't get me wrong there are better guns out there just not for the price...
