| I read this idea in the post "i need a team" and wanted to start a new thread on it. I have tried this with nerf (people pay me to "hit" their friends). I don't think the whole hire-a-hit would be a good idea with airsoft guns, but other than that the whole mercenary idea sounds pretty cool. Any thoughts? | |

| Thats how we started and still sometimes work were a very valued sqaud. People hire us to do work for them. One time a team was playing another they had a tank and they agreed that to stop the tank they had to kill the operator the operator was hiding in a ghillie they didnt know this so they hired us to help them. We found the tank guy dispatched him and took out the rest of the team. That time they payed us in 100,000 .20 gram bbs. Other teams have payed us in things such as guns My spotter got his MP5 because a team gave us three pistols and the MP5. I reccomend it you can gain bbs money guns and sometimes people from the team want to join you. Mercanary is the way to go to build up a larger team. | |

| A airsoft mercenary IMO really doesn't make alot of sense. Who, honestly, is going to pay someone to play a game? lol
Sounds like a neat ideal for our team.

| Yeah I was wondering that to why would somebody pay you to become an allied and help them win when they could ask you. I mean if your greedy (which I am) it will be a good idea but I don't see why.
If you make a mercenary team then tell how it goes.

| it could be a fun thing to do I mean if you know a team that always plays another team you could tell them what you do so the team they normally play against gets screwed up because of extra players and stuff. | |

| Well lets take the time to analyze this whole Mercenary thing... We all know what a mercenary is, but can someone effectively transition this into airsoft? I know it would never fly in my airsoft community but lets pretend it would.
Per say you set up a team of guys who are hired out to play with other people.... Ok sounds good for the merc, but why would another team want to hire you? Airsoft is just a game, I don't know of anyone who plays for money or bragging rights. But lets say there is someone who plays for money and bragging rights.... What if they don't like your services, or even worse what if you didn't go through the proper legal channels to set-up your mercenary team. Then you would be facing a crap ton of jail time and fines for illegally using airsoft as a buisness.....
Now on a switch topic, lets think about using a PMC or mercenary used in a MilSim game. If this should be done they need to be a trusted team who has allot of experience with Role Playing(RPing). I have been to events where the mercs/RPers just randomly walked around and killed people, until both sides got fed up and allied just to kill the mercs..... But I have also been to events and seem amazing RPers speak other languages or made up languages to confuse and stall enemy forces. If you plan on RPing allot get to know the local event organizers, these people could be the guys that run the field or even just a major team who does a yearly or bi-annual game etc etc. Also it wouldent be a bad idea to start buying AK's, Chicom rigs, Arab wear or other items. Most of this stuff is dirt cheap but adds a whole new dimension to airsoft.
Good luck and have fun! I can link a few threads that show PMC's gear/guns/vehicles etc etc if you really want to piece the PMC thing together.

| Ya the whole "mercenary" thing honestly sounds like a childs dream. There is no application for it in airsoft as sticks said. - Quote :

Ya the military had an "Iraq simulator" in the Mojave Desert, not to far from me. They hired RP's to stand in as civilians, insurgents, etc. Essentially, they had a whole WORKING town of roleplayers, with utilities, government, etc and these people lived out of this "town" for WEEKS. Marines were cycled through the simulator and learned about combat in urban environments, dealing with crowd control, and other things vital in their deployment. Interesting Idea by the military and a great way of creating jobs.

| Its kind of a stupid thing to do in airsoft. Altough its an easy way to make some money off your friends, but I could see some confuseion happening at times and then an argument breaks out. An easy way to make money but not really the best thing for airsoft. | |

| No you don't merc to get money. Who in their right mind is going to pay for someone to play a game? No one.
I've merced before and it is not anything like that. Basically you just wait at the field and get friendly with all the teams. Then you play with them and with other teams. Its just a way to get to know people and possibly find a team willing to 'hire' you. + it is easier if the local teams have a forum set up...which i happen to be teh moderator of...lol

| instead of merc people have merc weapons and equipment. people sign a contract pay a fee. and the contract states liabilities if they were to break, destroy, or lose the rented piece of equipment | |
