I just bought a UTG L96 Spring Sniper Rifle ACU, UHC USP Dual Tone Spring Airsoft Gun (pistol), extra clips, and bb's. I just want some tips on becomeing a true airsoft sniper. I already have a quiet step ( I got three people at point blank range with a smith and Weston shotgun without getting shot), and I already know how to keep still while waiting for the Ambush, but I was just wondering if you experts can give me any tips.

Well these may not be tips for sniping but please don't call mags 'clips'.

As far as other tips, get to know your rifle like the layout of you house. Also learn how to compensate for windage, and the huge decrease in accuracy at long ranges. You may want to grab a set of BDU's if you plan on playing at big events.

I see that you are really close to Dayton; the largest airsoft field in ohio is located in Springfield Oh, which is roughly 10mins southwest of Dayton.

Link to the next event there: http://www.airsoftohio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20402

Your sniper rifle may be shooting to hot to play there. I would suggest you get a new spring since most other places in Ohio abide by this rule. The difference between 400FPS(legal for you and me), and 450FPS(your current FPS with the UTG) is a great range increase ONLY if you use .25+G weighted BB's. Besides if you plan on using smaller weighted BB's your accuracy is going to be decreased by the higher FPS.

This is another site kinda near you. This site has no FPS/age limit however it does have a rule that requires Bio degradable BB's.

I live exactly 31 mins away from that site so if you want to meet up at that even I could do it Wink. I also have an extra spring on hand that gave me 388FPS in my VSR. I could let you borrow have that spring if we meet up somewhere(like Conquest lol).

Heres a link to the next game: http://www.airsoftohio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20415

Have r=fun and read around a little, there is alot of info on this site that will be useful to you.

Here's a topic that is in the Sniper Section with tactics. It deals with real steel and such. Enjoy! http://www.biggerhammer.net/manuals/23-10/toc.htm

Ok first you need a spotter , then go through drills and such with your spotter . You said that you had a Smith and Wesson shotgun , that will come in very helpful when sniping , just incase the enemy comes in just a little too close . Weapons are important to the sniper . Ah , and I see that you have chosen the UTG L-96 for your airsofting weapon of choice . And a very good choice too might I add , I have a black UTG L-96 , with a Bushnell Scope , inner barrel upgrade , and black in color . I use 0.28 grams bbs for close distance targets , and 0.25 grams bbs for longer distance targets , ( as reccommended by my spotter ) . As for your spotter , pick one who has sniper training , and assualt rifle training . A spotter is someone who will have your back throughout the whole airsoft war , or match , whichever that you do preffer . Anyway , airsoft sniping is more of an art than it is a role , and some spend years and thousands of dollars and never really master it . This is not nessecarly needed , a good sniper is a sniper who has not only mastered the art of stealth , and camoflage , but is a great team player , a good leader , has a steady set of arms and legs , a pair of skillful eyes , and a good and firm head between his or her shoulders , all of this makes up a good airsoft sniper . Sniping , again , is an art which will require a whole lot more practice than other roles but just stick to it , I believe that you do have what it takes to exceed in the role of the secret soldier .

I suggest a DMR rifle for him , like the TSD M14 , or an assualt rifle , like the Echo 1 M4 .

Hey I see that you want to get Well brand AEG's. They are not the best quality, at all. For the price you could almost get yourself a good JG or even an Echo 1.

Heres an Ohio store that you might want to look at. It has a huge selection of guns and parts(external/internal).

http://www.airsoftarms.com/

Heres the place that I use, not as big a selection but they have standards for their parts. So when I buy from them I know I'm not going to get a crappy part/gun. I do pay a price for this luxury though.

They both have an equal list of Echo's, but AirsoftArms has other clones that you might want to look at.

yeah I agree with sticks , when in doubt go with Echo 1 , they have cheaper guns , than most high end AEG manufacturers anyways , and their guns are top quality .

Yeah but would well be the best quality for a $50-120 price range? After about a good year of airsofting i may get a good $200+ gun but i don't know. Like i said before im just getting back into it with my friend.

I know of a couple of Echo 1 s right off the bat that are 150 and 140 , only ten dollars more , but much more worth it , for example the DSR by Echo 1 only 150 dollars see

And the Stag from Echo 1 as shown above , trust me go with Echo 1 , you won't regret it .

You should probblay start a new thread about your questions, and look around the other threads to see everyone's veiws on ghillies and your first gun. Also it would be a good indea to introduce yourself in the Introduction section.

Please make your own thread for these questions (after you search around the site first, of course). To help you with your searches, it's best to use the "advanced search" option - you'll get much better results. Thanks!
