MP5 doesn't shoot semi?

Guys, my MP5 is starting to break. AND NO, Jarhead999 and Spl. Durkee, I did not mess with it (Inside Joke).
Anyways, the gun does not shoot semi, but full auto all the time.
And I"m starting to worry that the spring will compress too much.
What should I do?
Why won't it shoot semi?

So, If I read correctly, you move the selector switch to Semi but the gun still Fires in Fully Automatic?
Does the safety still engage properly?

If it doesn't work, your Selector Switch most likely isn't connecting with the Gears and is stripped, In other words you're turning the Switch but not changing the Mode of Fire, it's still on Full even though the selector switch is pointing at Semi.
I think MP5 selector switches are notorious for this.

D-T, nailed the most likly problem, if it is still under guarentee or you don´t trust yourself to attempt the repair, send it in.

This depends. An easy and first step for you should be to remove your selector switch find a very small screw driver and locate the tiny screw on the side of the switch.
Unscrew it and remove (Keep track of that Tiny screw) The Selector Switch. Inspect the little Nub it's connected to, the Screw, and the hole the screw goes into. If any are stripped, tell me And I can tell you what you need.
The only thing I DON'T know is what the gear the Selector Switch connects to is called.....Is it the Tappet Plate? no no I don't remember....

the same thing happened to mine when i still had it . ya dt nailed it it usually the selector switch . well id send it into gi cus they know exactly how to fix it and they might eve nmake the gun more efficent so it wont ever happen again

ya cus i took my mp5 apart tons so i prob can help . and mike im sure mettalic didnt mean anything hostile or mean but metallic it would be nicer to just say you don't prefer the mp5 instead of sayen stuff like that.

i was just saying my bro has an ICS mp5 and it only shoots full auto and safe so i was just pointing out the truth

o i see well sorry for saying somthign not true. my apollogies metallic . and ino what you mean that happened to mine aswell so somtimes there are good and bad mp5's but a little upgrade can allways fix that .
