Minors working?

I don't know about you, but I need money. Both for my own serious reasons and just spending it all on AS gear and new "toys". Hopefully when I turn 14 I'm gonna get my work permit and work at BlockBuster or something. I've read that it's legal for that but I'm not 100% sure about the state laws. Any idea of the California labor laws for minors (under 18yr old)?

15 and a half to get a work permit in CA, bud.

You're going to have to stick to odd jobs, mowing lawns, babysitting, etc...

Now, you can get around the 15 and a half permit law by proving that your household's income is extremely low and you need another family member working to keep the family alive...but even that is hard to get and I doubt you fall under that category.

So pick up a shovel, lawnmower, or baby bottle and start raking in the...umm...petty cash.

Darn...Well, the day will come eventually.

A friend of mine has been doing odd jobs like that for years. Mowing lawns, walking dogs, etc. Makes some decent money. Now he has a job at the local grocery store, but he still does those odd jobs when he needs extra cash.
