In the early 1980s Russia attempted a Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. The Taliban eventually would harbor Osama Bin Laden, which would lead to Sept 11, which would lead to a war with Afghanistan and Iraq. All because we failed to offer support other than driving the Russians away.

Had we finished what we started, then today maybe Sept. 11 would never have happened, maybe we would not be at war with 2 other countries, maybe many Americans would still be alive today.
