UTG/WELL/CLONE L96 (MK96)

I have restarted this thread made by metal sniper3445 about the L96 distributed by UTG/WELL. Unfortunately the thread was deleted, so I'll be restarting it and asking for your input once again. I have also moved the area of discussion from "General Airsoft Discussion" to "General Sniper Discussion." There are already many threads on this forum and other forums all over the internet about these guns, but I'll go ahead and allow this thread to continue.

I put the UTG/WELL L96 in the same thread b/c they're identical guns - both purchased from the same manufacturer.

My personal opinion is that the L96 is a great purchase for someone just getting into sniping. It was my first real airsoft rifle and I still use it from time to time years later with performance that matches that of when I first bought it. It's fairly consistent, has high FPS for a stock rifle, and looks great.

PROS:
- Strong, sturdy body. No creaks or weak parts.
- Full-metal barrel (both outer and inner), bolt, rails, etc.
- High FPS out-of-box.
- Comes with a bipod.
- Only $130 for a gun that is ready for game-play out-of-box.
- The design of the L96 is beautiful and easy to carry.
- Good balance of weight.
- Comes with metal magazines.
- Many more!

CONS:
- Can be heavy for smaller-sized players.
- Has a rather hideous seam line down the center of the gun.
- Still has occasional inconsistent shots (AKA Rogue shots) that fly right or left for no apparent reason.
- Upgrades are costly.
- People who buy this gun usually think they're automatically supreme snipers and tend to get cocky. This gets very old very quickly.
- I'm sure there are more!

As you can see it comes with good and bad, as do most airsoft replicas. I of course recommend the gun, but I do have a few warnings:
1 - To those looking for a "budget sniper rifle," at least check out the JG Bar-10. Great stock performance. Very attractive gun. Easy and Free to upgrade to a higher FPS. Great price tag.
2 - Don't expect to be up to par with high-end sniper rifles. There's a reason those guns are $250-600+ and yours is $130.
3 - Remember that retailers will throw out numbers like 250 foot effective range and 460-500 FPS! Don't get caught up in the hype. It's hard to find a sniper rifle, especially one under $200, that'll give you an effective range much over 200 feet. It's simply not likely. Also, when sites throw out FPS numbers, they typically mean with .2g BBs. That's a fine representation of velocity for an AEG, but not for a sniper rifle. Remember, if you're using a sniper rifle you'll be using at the very, very least .25g BBs - hopefully heavier. This means a much slower FPS when you're actually on the field firing your gun. But at the same time don't forget that FPS isn't everything. There are many other things to take into consideration - but those are a separate discussion.

Once again, the L96 is a great gun for beginners or those simply looking to try out the airsoft sniping world. I honestly would NOT be ashamed to take this $130 replica to a big event sometime with guys carrying around their $500 rifles. It looks, feels and shoots great. Just make sure it's what you want and before you buy at least look in to the JG Bar-10. Thanks!

Well put, you might want to change the title to Clone L96's. Other wise everyones going to say that you didn't talk about their specific company. Most of them are the same anyways, usually the spring and the logo is the only difference.

Ha. I'm thinking about "sticky-ing" it. I changed the title and I hope some other owners of the gun have some NOTE-WORTHY and QUALITY things to add to the thread. This is the number one question I see every day - "Is the (insert clone name here) L96 a good gun to buy?" It just gets old repeating it so often.

hey well im i have a budget of like $200 for a sniper what do you recommend i bye??

on evike you can get a gas jg bar 10 g- spec for $99 then put $100 of upgrades on it.

but like i just want to buy a gun that i don't have to put upgrades in it tho thats my prob but like i been snipeing befor and like im new but i have a little experience in it but like i don't want a gun that sucks so like im shopping around to find the best for my money!!

well the bar 10 i was talking about is g spec witch is pre upgraded

This is not the place for that. Start A new thread, or atleast look around and search to get an idea of what you want.

What gun should I buy the L-96 or the JG-Bar 10 ? LOL , nice job Admin .

i have a WELL L96 and out of the box i had a lot of Rogue shots but after i lubed it with silicone lube it became very very accurate. it went from being a foot and a half off to less that 3 inches off target.

The TSD is identicle too

im going to buy this gun, but i want to improve the accuracy, and maybe the fps a bit. are there any inexpensive upgrades i can buy at the same time, so i don't have to wait a week after i get my gun? im going to buy the mk96 from airsoftgi. i have heard that there is a barrel spacer problem... what needs to be done with that? i plan on buying it on friday so a speedy reply would be appreciated
