hey guys i know that this is probably a stupid question, but how do you move up ranks on the website?

It goes by post count.

Just an FYI, don't rank post ie. posting pointless crap just to move up in rank. Not saying you would though.

It's only a stupid question if: 1. you already know the answer or 2. the question has absolutely no bearing on anything.

It changes every time you rank up. I don't remember exactly how many it is to the first rank up from private (I think it might be somewhere around 100, but that's just a guess). Also, if you forget to say something with one post, just edit that post and ask what you wanted to ask. Posting again is generally viewed as rank posting (trying to up you rank) and people don't like it. Just for future refference.

Also, it would be necro-posting; posting on an old topic. That's easy to avoid when you're thinking about it; just look at the date before you respond.
