Hey next time lable it better than just "question" but i belive that if you have radio communication you can be away from him but I would say no more than 10-20 feet incase they figure out were he is and start attcking.

Well in the military , and most of the time with me and my spotter we stay side by side , that way he is so close to seeing the exact same thing that I am seeing , the shots will be better called out and more accurate . Also the closer a spotter is to a sniper , the better spotter he will be , because they will be seeing almost the exact same thing , but if you do move away from the sniper then only do it for a reconossssssssince , ( and for about 30 yards away at the most , and only for at the most thirty to fourty minutes ) , of the area ahead to make sure enemy are not ahead , and also when returning to your spotter make sure that he knows who you are , this can be either determined either by waving a bright object , which can be seen through a scope , or by radioing ahead of time .

A good Sniper Team, does not have to be located `` RIGHT´´ next to each other.

Things to keep in mind when going into a shooting position or Hide, Both have to have Eyes on Target, Both have to be able to communicate with each other, either with hand and arm signals, ( Not the best way for Snipers ) Radio, or be able to hear each other, Both have to be able to provide the other with covering and supporting Fire when needed, and both have to know where the other is.

Something that most AirSoft sniper teams forget, in AirSoft we have a very limited range, and a very effective tactic is to use the spotter as `` BAIT´´.

A good Spotter, can pull a Target in close, misdirecting attention away from the actual Snipers location, giving the Sniper more time to set up for the 100% hit. It requires alot of practice, but when done correctly, it is quite easy for a sniper team to remove a Squad from the playing field in the shortest time.

Great info guys!

May I add that the main reason Spotters sit vertically behind the sniper is because the way he 'spots' the round is by watching the vapor trail of the bullet AND watching the impact of the bullet. The easiest way to do this is by sitting diagonal to the Sniper rifle. The best way to do this is to sit behind and above the sniper rifle.

Personally I think it is the best to sit a little to the side of any gun shooting because you get a better perception of the depth of the shot.

I agree with sticks , that is actually exactly what I was trying to say , but amazingly I was lost for words , lol . But Slobs ideal is actually a good one , he has taken a military situation and turned it into an airsoftting one . An airsoft gun's range isn't that of well , most a real rifles , so using the sniper as bait is an excelent idea . Most people try real military tactics on airsofting situations , which is very good , but sometimes airsofting situations , an entirely different plan , but with some military roots , this is a very good way too look at , well , just about any airsofting situation .

If you are going to be that far away,(30 yards) you better be able to quickly cover your sniper if he needs to retreat. As that is one of the main jobs of a spotter.

When I use a spotter, or when I am spotting, I stick right by my no.2 - 10 feet away at the maximum. Radioing communication can get very difficult, messy, loud and time-wasting since you're not looking from the same perspective. My spotter lies with his head about level with my right ankle, looking along the length of my body and rifle to see where my shots are going. For the reason's I have explained in this section of the forum multiple times (cover fire, calling out targets, tracing shots) it is important that your spotter remains close to you unless, as Slob said, you are employing a specialist tactic.

It helps being close to each other and I would recommended it myself, because you do see almost the exact same things. Also if you must split up no matter what always have his back covered. Keep an eye on him like a hawk if you loose sight radio in ASAP. It might seem a little weird having to watch his back and radio in even if he might be prone or something but it's always nice to be safe other then sorry.
