| Hello everyone and welcome to what I think is one heck of a post! With your help it will be, so let's get started. I'm in the planning stages for a new gun (who's not?!). I've listed my requirements below:-400-460fps w/.2g's - I figure that if I can get around 460fps with .2g's, that converts to approx 400fps w/.25.28g's which is what I'm really going to be using! And that needs to be reliable (as in long term & not break from the stress), accurate FPS! -Accuracy - Im going to be the gangs sniper (as close as were going to get anyway) so it must be accurate to at least 150'. We do not have enough people for one of us to be a dedicated full time role of sniper. I am all for installing a longer barrel with a fake silencer! -Reliablity - Very! I like Metal, internally & externally! Its going to have to take years of abuse from high fps stress, sniping, and skirmishing when the poo hits the fan. -Cost: $250 tops! - I already have a smart charger & good batteries from my R/C & paintball stuff. -Semi auto (full auto option is always nice!) - NO bolt action! I'm pretty sure most of you just threw up out there in Sniper land, but I must play more than the single role sniper! -Full Butt stock - Or the equivelint, So I can run at least a 9.6v battery in it. I can't stand most of the battery box's out there! I will list the candates I have found below by Type, along with links, and a few notes on each - so you can all check 'em out and give me you honest opinions. Hopefully one (or many) of you will have one of these and give me some first hand knowledge, rather than the he said she said stuff that so many like to spread! Heh Also if you have any information, ideas, tips, or warnings about anything in general let me know! There is 1: G3-SG1 $140 http://www.airsoftpost.com/version-matrix-t3k1-marui-clone-airsoft-rifle-black-p-28748.html 380-410fps, Metal V2 GearBox, Plastic body (from what I can tell. Thats one big check against this one) There is 1: Custom Army L85A1 Full Metal AEG Rifle. - Alpha $210http://www.airsoftpost.com/custom-army-l85a1-full-metal-rifle-alpha-p-28380.html 330-400fps the add says both?! Metal body & box There are 2 SCAR's: Looking at the stats of each, whats the diff?! http://www.airsoftpost.com/dboy-full-metal-scar-advanced-squad-carbine-airsoft-rifle-package-p-30079.html DBOY Full Metal $190 380-440fps and a http://www.airsoftpost.com/echo-full-metal-scar-advanced-squad-carbine-airsoft-rifle-package-p-29643.html Echo 1 Full Metal $210 400-430fps SCAR's don't have a big battery, one hit on them! But I found http://www.airsoftpost.com/scar-enlarge-stock-black-p-29363.html which may be bigger than standard, and stay in my budget. There are 4 AK's: http://www.airsoftpost.com/full-metal-hybrid-custom-airsoft-rifle-p-30210.html JG Full Metal AK Hybrid Custom $199 400-440fps It's got rails everywhere. http://www.airsoftpost.com/matrix-full-metal-full-size-airsoft-rifle-package-p-30128.html Matrix JG AK RIS Full Metal $170 390-420fps If you took the foregrip off, it looks like the real one I go tfrom Bulgaria! http://www.airsoftpost.com/version-cyma-cm036-full-metal-ak74-airsoft-rifle-p-29375.html New Version CYMA CM036 Full Metal AK74 $150 380-460fps Nice wood look. http://www.airsoftpost.com/vector-arms-echo-full-metal-ak47-p-28374.html Vector Arms ECHO 1 Full Metal AK47 RAS $185 400fps There are 4 M16-ish Types:http://www.kapowwe.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=dboys-SR25&Category_Code=Only-High-Grade-M16&Store_Code=R A&K Full Metal SR-25 $220 460fps! And its ugly, heh. So there we go. You guys & gals chew on that for a while & let me know what you come up! I will be buying one of these guns in... whever I get done with this military thing thats kinda taking up a bit of time right now, but they let me near a computer! haha So really, any help you guys can give me would be greatly appricated. I don't exactlly have access to things atm. Once WE do decide on a gun, I'll buy it! Then I'll do a review and honest write up on it with some REAL Chronograph numbers and everything. I'll give you all the pros & cons! The meat & potatoes, the mimbly jimblies of it all. WHat? Nevermind... Haha Also if you have another gun that you know of that fits my required spec's thats not on my list, tell me! I'm open to options. Thanks for your time and any help would be greatly appricated! | |

| I would like to see a comparison of your service weapon compared to an airsoft replica version. I think that would be the coolest, not to mention you could use all your old gear from when you were in. etc etc.

| I WILL take pictures of myself and ALL my airsoft gear, all dressed out in my "war-gear" Looking Rambo or something, heh. I got quite a few actual (weapons & gear) items that I've bought on my own, because its better than whats issued to me by the man - and I like breathing! My place back home is starting to look like the Punishers, but thats cool. hah. I will compare whatever airsoft one I end up buying with the closest representative I own to it. You got it! Thanks for the good idea.Heres a little side note on the actual weapons I use/used while in the service of the USA. M240 - For when you really want to get your point across, nothing quite says it like the M60(old) / M240 (new)! Which I mount whenever possible, or use its bi-pod when I can, its heavy! 1911 (old) - in .45ACP Now that'll stop a sucka! M9 (new) - I hate this gun, hate it. But at least I got lots of ammo to spray & pray with ;/ Glock 30 - My personnal .45ACP Subcompact, its what I carry in addition to the M9, its got the trijicon sights which are sweet by the way! Better than the 1911. Remington 12GA - Very handy! Shot, Slugs, Flares, Non-Lethal, etc. M14 - Love it. Its accurate, great range & knockdown, and getting phased out by the man... M4 - Hate it. Kinda like the M9 to me, more rounds, but thats cuz I'm going to need nore rounds to do what one should have done in the first place. Grr. 20MM - This is mounted somewhere, but man does it put big holes in things! M32 - Its a grenade launcher, what more do I need to say! They only let me play with this once Haha Grenades blow up. Baton - They hurt, a lot Maglite - just like a baton, plus it blinds you. My own personnal is a Scorpion flashlight. Now, back to the topic. "M14 double-taps" the gun you mentiond was the first one I checked out (and posted on in the sniper, gun upgrades area) and still one of the ones that sticks out in my mind as having some potential to be a kick arse gun. Heck Its good out of the box! I got lots of links from Evike simply because they load faster and where I am the connection is horriable & I don't have a lot of time. That list I gathered & posted above took me about 1 week to gather ;( So if you link any You-Tube or things like that because I wont be able to check it out, but it'll be good for the rest of you. The only companies I have experience is the actuall UNCompany shop in Hong Hong, and Red Wolf airsoft. But I can't get thier pages to load here either. OK. SO thats ONE vote for the A&K Full Metal R-25!This thing should go like a battle royle! Whos next into the ring? Anyone think they can take out the SR-25 (staying within my required specs) ? Low blows, ear biting, and foriegn objects are allowed! To your corners, and come out fighting! | |

| Just curious, but what branch do you serve in?
I have a TM M4 and I love it to death, its getting an external make over. Hopefully I will be able to pull of a USAF Pararescue Jumper kit(without tabs, don't wear em unless you've earned em).
I'm guessing you are Army since you were issued a proper M4A1(I'm guessing here). If you want to get an airsoft M4 I would look at the Echo 1(or the JG I guess) HK416 (they call it a 614 lol). From the ex service guys that I have talked to it is all muscle memory, even with the different grip/RIS. Thats if you want something muscle memory, otherwise I would go with the echo 1 SCAR or the Echo1 AK(full stock).
Thanks for your service!

| Sticks.13" I am in the USN. Forgive any spelling errors as Im typinh in the dark with one red light on far away! I like most the TM items Ive seen, I have a TM MP5 RAS upgraded to level 3 and its a blast to play with. The fit and finish and attention to details is amazing, however every TM Ive seenhas been plastic. I would like to get somethign metal this time. I agree totally with the don't wear it (or claim it) if you haven't earned it! And good assumption with whos usingthe M4's however the group that I am with got a handfull of them before the USN in general started thier swap over to them. Go ahead and send me an E-mail if you want if youd like to get into what I do more, I think I made my address available in my profile. I understand & concur with the muscle memory topic. Thats why Im looking at something in the M catagory. The aforementioned SR25 maybe http://www.airsoftpost.com/version-full-metal-type-airsoft-convertible-barrel-full-stock-p-30185.html Plus the fact taht there are so many parts out there that I can make it into whatever I want later I'm also pretty well aquanted with teh AK style Im looking at http://www.airsoftpost.com/full-metal-hybrid-custom-airsoft-rifle-p-30210.html of something like CYMA AK47 Tactical (Full Metal) 420-440fps $135 from the UNCompany shop in HK Ive delt with in the past! And as for my service, hey no prob. I figure its just a duty that everyone that is of age and able to, should do for thier counrty! America F ya! Heh | |

| i highly suggest the A&K sr-25. fully automatic... so u can't go over 400 fps unless u modify your selector plate. i believe its shooting around 420 out of the box though. its the best for a semi automatic sniper rifle, and pretty much JG. Tokyo marui upgradable! grr. i have a GR-16 (m4 basically) with a casv rail system, 3-9x40 zoom scope, and mod stock. it looks amazing | |

| I would suggest this one http://www.airsoftpost.com/type-customized-full-metal-rifle-full-size-package-p-29135.htmlThe reason being, you don't have to dedicate yourself to the role of sniper 100%, but still have a gun that can pick off the enemy at long distances! Thats the one reason the spr is better than the SR-25, because its more versatile! This way you can fulfill your role as a sniper, but be able to charge in to battle with the rest if you feel the need! the only con I could see is that it may be a little bit too much plastic for you. I think the whole front part is abs and not full metal but I may be mistaken. | |

| hey, if you want the quality of TM, and the Heavy, Rugged Realistic Feel of real-steal, go KWA, man. their weapons are always SO realistic, and VERY high quality. I own an M4, and a .45 from them. I love em. My KWA, however, was 310 dollars. So they CAN get a bit pricey, not sure if thats an issue here or not. Im not saying they're ALL this expensive tby any means however.
I would suggest a KWA over any gun listed so far.

| For your stated Budget, IMHO it comes down to 2 Guns, D-Boys SCAR or the SR-25 from A&K. The D-Boys SCAR is one of the Better performing off shoots of the SCAR line and actually out performs VFC, draw backs, it has a weak feeling to it, and changing the battery is a real pain in the Bow , but donĀ“t let that get you down, the CA version is even more of a nightmare. Upside, tuning and up-grade possibilities are endless, completely compatible with TM, CA internals, along with all the other clones. The SR-25 is an overall rock solid tuning platform, as a starter, and later as a capable Higher end performer fully capable. - Quote :

You can adjust/modify your Selector Plate all you want, no change will ever increase your FPS, decrease to Zero if you Break it. | |
