| Subject: KWA KM4A1! I just spent $523.52... and still need a battery. Tue Feb 24, 2009 8:51 am | |
| Hello again! Well I did it. I finally picked one, and actually bought it. Actually, I bought of lot of it. I was drinking and it was "Valentines day"-night and I was in some hole in the wall place - on some island - in the middle of nowhere (I'm in the military) - feeling lonely & sorry for myself as I wrote the woman via Chat. So buying things made me feel better! I went with the KWA KM4A1 http://www.airsplat.com/Items/ER-KWA-M4A1-CAR.htm . Also picked up a Systema Ball Bearing Spring Guide Rod http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AC-UPI-ICS-MC43.htm , DeepFire Spring Set-because I lose things sometimes http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AC-UPI-DF-CPS12.htm , A Systema M140 Spring http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AC-UPI-ZA-06-08.htm because I don't play on "offical" fields much, Some Black BB's for shooting the guys with & some White BB's for chrono-ing and screwing around http://www.airsplat.com/Items/B25-AEV2-3000-B.htm , and a MRC Super Brain 989 Delta Peak Charger http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AC-BC-MRC-B989.htm because I gave my last charger to my little brother, that I think pawned it. $523 and 52 cents later, I still need a battery! Heres where you guys come in. Do any of you OWN one, or KNOW SOMEONE that does? Maybe you can get to one in a shop somewhere where they got one and check it out for me? I wrote to KWA asking what size and configuration battery would fit in the forgrip. Thier response was "9.6v Nun-Chuck". Well, thanks guys. BUT, was that a 9.6v made out of "Sub C" size batteries, or these little ones made out of "4/5 A" or "2/3 A" Size batteries. I know that something like this http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AC-BT-96S1650-S.htm will fit, but I'm looking to go with the "Sub C" because they have a much higher Amperage output / C rating / AND are capable of having capacity of 5000mAh! (as compared to about 1600mAh for the small batteries) - and since Im going to be using a 140 spring and eventually going with a Systema Magnum motor its going to be pulling lots of amperage, so Im trying to stay away from the batteries smaller than "Sub C". I could go Li-Po, and got the charger that would actually charge them now but they are just plain to finiky for my taste. I don't want to worry about it my batteries are going to burst into flames and explode if I accidently cross a wire at some point! Plus, if one of the guys wants to borrow one of my batteries, they wont be able to because they will all be 11.1v and thier guns aren't exactlly going to like that to much. I don't want to use a PEQ or any other type of box, Im stricly thinking about what can fit in the foregrip of my KWA. I can solder & do my own wiring but I'm really limited as to what I have access to atm so Im gonna have to buy it, or have a shop make it for me for now. Thanks for your help guys, & gals! Hope to hear from you soon | |

| Nice pick!!! I know you'll looove this one. As you already know, you have limited battery space in your M4. I use a 8.4 1100 mAh mini-type battery, and it shoots about 900-950 rpm. However, I just recentley upgraded to a 9.6v 1700 mAh nun-chuck battery, much like the one they suggested for you. PLEASE let me rant here for a moment...THIS BATTERY IS SICK!!! I have shotten a KWA MAC11, which is 1000-1100 rpm, and I would estimate mine at around 1200 rpm...this thing is FAST. I am still jaw-droppingly amazed.....Ha sorry. Anywways, it is the EXACT battery in the picture that you posted. Mine fits PERFECTLEY in the foregrip, no moving or wobbeling, yet I don't have to cram it in. Order the one you just posted, it makes DREAMS COME TRUE!! My KWA M4 is just SINGING now. Now this "Sub-C" size you're talking about, I've never heard of. I have always heard it refferd to as "Large-type" or "Mini-type" But I'm telling you, order the one you linked to, this one: http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AC-BT-96S1650-S.htmAnd that price is a STEAL to, I got tricked into paying $70 dollars for mine Nevertheless, I am very happy with this battery. Get it, it's perfect. Hope I helped, If you have any other questions about this awesome gun, just ask. Oh, and which KWA M4 did you get, shor barrel or long barrel? I got the longer barreled one. | |

| Hehe rant away! Yes Ive been window shopping for a while now and from the looks of it (stats) & everythign I've read I'm thinking I'll like it as well & it should last me a good long while. PLUS, its like one of the guns I use at work so thats a bonus. Training weapon! (Without paying at LEAST $1,000 for a Systema - ouch those are expensive!) I think I will pick up a "small" (18mm Diameter x 67mm Tall - IF its a "A" type battery they are using.) type you recommended. And the Sub C size, those are the usuall size that you see in the 7.2v or 8.4v (or the occasional 9.6v) in RC cars, and in the buttstocks and PEQ boxes of many airsoft guns. They are fatter (23mm Diameter 43mm tall) and have better "flow" characteristics, and generally much higher mAh ratings! Do you think there is room - or could you check it out to see if there is room in the foregrip for that size, or just the smaller types? Also, Im gonna replace the fuse with a mosfet so itll take up about the same amount of space the fuse did, but with the battery pack you have (small type) http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AC-BT-96S1650-S.htm is there room for ONE MORE battery in there? Wedged up in the side or somehow? If so, then I'll just make a 10.8v "small type" battery and jam that puppy in there! And scream with laughter as my gun rattles my mags empty! Another question about the gun. Do you know what Gauge wire they used? Does it say any numbers on it that you can see? Future plans - down the road:If I can't get any of that to fit - then I'll more than likely go the route of using a http://www.airsoftpost.com/m4m16-series-ready-system-p-26037.html ready mag system to hide my big 'ol battery. But for now, I can't even find a screwdriver around this place, I gotta use my Leatherman for everything ;/ OH yah, and I got the longer barrel version - the M4A1, NOT the CQB version. Also, could you measure the length of the outer barrel for me. Im wondering if its 16" or not. If it is 16" or a little longer then I'm probably just going to pick up a http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AC-UPI-DF-CPB21.htm 6.02mm Inner barrel thats 550mm Long, and a http://www.airsoftpost.com/madbull-gemtech-quick-detatch-mock-supressor-barrel-extension-flashhidertan-p-29762.html to hide it in, plus I think it'd just look cool. Also, that would help a lot with the DM role I'll be playing even better. And I think I'll get a http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AC-MNT-BR101TR.htm Tri Rail Mount to put a cheap-O folding bi-pod and a Light on. A http://www.airsoftpost.com/steel-lr300-style-skeleton-folding-stock-series-p-28966.html because its just cool, plus Id still be able to be somewhat mobile with a longer gun if I can fold the butt up on it. Very nice touch. And top it all off with a http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AC-SCP-RD40RGW.htm 40mm Red/Green Dot scope. Thanks for the inputs and keep 'em coming! | |

| I am a bit unclear on a few of your questins. are you asking if a MOSFET will fit in the foregerip along with a battery? I am not sure. If the MOSFET is as big as a fuse like you said it was, trhen yes it will fit. Heres where I get confused: - Ostentatious wrote:

Are you asking if you can fit a THIRD battery in the foregrip? If you are, the answer is no. Like I said, THIS battery fits PERFECTLEY: http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AC-BT-96S1650-S.htmAs for outer barrel size, it is 16 inches. With the Mad Bull Quicksilver barrel extension I'm using, much like the one yoou linked to only black, It's 17. The only numbers or letters I found on the wiring are as follows: GT-2 VW-1 125....then it cuts off. If any of that means any thing to you Glad to help you with anything, If I didn't answer your battery question, feel free to ask again, just tell me exactly what you need because I'm having a little bit of trouble understanding what you were asking

| DT, what he is asking are the dimensions for the inside of your foregrip... Sub C cells are the ones on Crane stock batteries, link: http://www.airsoftsmith.com/store/popup_image.php?pID=72^probably not the best picture, but basically it looks like and inflated cell. Ostentatious, I'm heading out to airsoftsmith tomorrow. I can check in one of their KWA's to see if the crane styled battery would work. I'm 70% sure they would because of their design(not bound in pairs), but I know for a fact that Sub C's bound in pairs will not fit inside the foregrip. sticks | |

| Ohhh, a CRANE STOCK BATTERY! thanks for clearing that up, sticks. Now, thats a bit more risky, but I'd be willing to bet that it....WILL fit. I can't be sure, so we'll see what information Sticks brings us tomorrow. | |

| YES! Thanks Sticks.13! I am anxiously awaiting the results! What are the dimensions of the space in the foregrip? If there is a divider thing in it, could it be ground away (I have a Dremel, I can do anything heh!) to make more room - without screwing up any hard mounting points? Yes I was wanting to know if I could fit a 9.6v (...or maybe with an extra battery for 10.8v! but either way - made out of Sub C's) in the foregrip, and I was thinking the same thing, that the "crane" configuration would probly be my best bet. Also, I'm wondering IF I use the smaller type of batteries (whatever size they are using) IF I could fit a 10.8v battery in there? Something like this http://www.all-battery.com/108vnimh2000mahBatteryPack.aspx which is $24 by the way! I realize that I will probably need to un-shrink wrap them so that they are lose & maybe re-solder a bit 'O wire on the ends so that instead of 2 bricks, & 1 loose - it'll be 2-2-1-2-2. Did that make any sense? Hehe. Just look at this picture and visualize the two bricks as 2 strips of 2 batteries instead of in "pack's". OH - and Elementfrvr, you got a what on your G36C that makes it Beastly? Gotta get to work. Thanks for checking stuff out for me guys. I wish I were in the states so I could do it myself. | |

| "STICKS.13"... Cricket - cricket... Sticks? Well, OK. So I've been looking at Li-Po's while I was waiting to hear back from Sticks, or anyone to let me know how much room I have in the foregrip to mess around with. I've also been searching the web for info on Systema Magnum's and found that they have initial spikes of drawing a continuous 50ish Amps with a 160 spring, or 20ish Amps with a 140! Well, Im gonna be using my 140 Spring, and eventually think I'll go to the Systema Magnum. But only the good SC cells, and Li-Po's can provide that kind of Amperage/C rating. I found a Li-po http://www.all-battery.com/111volt-4000mah15cli-polylipo3cellbatterypack.aspx that'll provide 60Amps/15C Continuous (80Amp burst) 4000mAh for $67! But it's 5.7x1.8x.9”, thats like a book! Since I don't know how big I can go its kinda hard for me to figure out ya know. http://www.all-battery.com/111volt-2500mah20cli-polylipo3cellbatterypack.aspx $55 is 3.9x1.7x.9” http://www.all-battery.com/111volt-2200mah25cli-polylipobatterypack.aspx $48 is 4.1x1.3x1” Those are a few of the options I got for Li-Po, which Im trying to stay away from but sometimes you gotta pay to play with the good stuff! Hehe. I need big amp output and they got it! Looking forward to any info you may have! Thanks guys & gals. | |

| Going to toss in my 2 cents here,
I can understand the reasons for not wanting to go with an Peq, Battery box, and so on.
Keeping the gun Clean and as original as possible always looks nice, but it does limit the size of batteries that are available.
Other Options that are available, Sling with Battery Bag ( If you are willing to do the re-wiring ), Sling with Cable adapter so that you can carry the Battery in your assault vest, or Jacket pocket.
If you are going to be using Lipo´s, remember to install the LED Monitor, on your gun, even with the advances in LIPO technology, draining the battery under 65% will damage and reduce the Life of the LIPO cell. The advantages to using LIPO´s do outweigh the use of Standard batteries, but they require special attention.
Side note, insure that you also purchase a Hardened Pinion Gear for your Magnum, running a 140 spring on a standard Pinion Gear, your playing time will be limited ( About 6 Hi-Caps ).

| Ok well sorry forgot about this topic lol.
I know sub C's will fit in the forgrip as long as they are in Sticks, not blocks. I don't know how to wire it but something like a Crane battery would work fine(its what we tried)...

| Thank you all! Sticks.13! Long time no hear! So the Sub-C's you tried out in... sticks (hehe), did the number of batteries total 8.4v or 9.6v or...?
I have been flown from Guam to VA to take care of somethign for the last month. Its over and now Im done. Im actually IN the USA. Wierd! And I'll be in for the 4th of July (for the first time in about 4 years I think), which also just happens to be my wedding aniversery. The woman & kid drove out from the middle of the US to VA so it will be pretty cool to actually see them again, as I drink beer & blow up MORE STUFF for the 4th!!!
Any ideas as to who makes a good Hardened Pinion Gear, I know Ive turned a few to goo with my RC cars etc. But that was so long ago I don't remember any makers anymore.
And as a last resort, if I bugger everythign else up, I was thinking that I COULD re-run the wire to the back and have one of those battery bag's attached to my butt-stock. At least that way the balance would still be good, I could stuff as many batteries of whatever size ("D's") I wanted in it, and it would be mostly hidden. But as Slob212 mentioned, I do want to try to keep it clean.
Thanks for the inputs. Enjoy your 4th. Drink some beers (or root beers) and have fun blowing stuff up. Just don't mangle yourselves being stupid!
