| Why not just use plywood? anything better than a $40 springer shotgun could go through that | |

| Becuase this was stuff just laying around and we had nothing to do. And the shotgun and pistol don't even work we just had them for the picture seeming as how it is meant to be SWAT. | |

| Actually, I think this adds an element of realism. A real life swat shield would be able to withstand infinite Airsoft shots without going down, whereas it cannot stand against more than a couple of real rounds. A cardboard shield will add realism in that it can only handle so many shots before BBs start going through it. | |

| acually they're made to withstand rounds from a gun because if they didn't then they wouldn't use them | |

Actual swat sheilds are coated in Kevlar armor. They are impervious to small arms fire period. You need a M203, or RPG if you were to go against it in real life.

| Soooooo your saying if I shoot 100 rounds of 5.56mm ammo at you holding a SWAT sheild you'll be fine? I don''t belive that yes small arms fire no shotguns or assault rifles. | |

"Naked" ballistic shields are for use against small projectiles (bottles, rocks, tear gas canisters...etc) Ballistic shields with kevlar wrap used by are certified for use against small caliber and shotgun rounds. There are ballistic "mats" that can be inplemented to withstand short range blasts from door breech charges. There are ALSO different shields in the works that will withstand small blasts AND high powered rifle rounds, but none that have been fielded by law enforcement. - Quote :

Actually, a shotgun is one of the easiest stopped. There are multiple projectiles in a shotgun blast, so energy is spread out in a wide area.

Yes I do believe slugs and combat loads would do considerable damage, but not pierce. Kevlar, but nature, would absorb larger, slow velocity rounds. Unless it was a steel core or jacketed shot, it would likely not piere the shield.

| No, real-steel combat ballistic shields. Ones used by law enforcement. Sorry, off topic. Someone brought it up. | |
