not as much as you would think, metallic. some Delta operators have combat shotguns rigged to their M16s, and it is great in combat. imaginative thinking time: you are a Delta operator with a M16A4/12g combo. you are assaulting a control tower by yourself at a small airfield in Uganda. you turn a corner, and OPFOR is breathing in your face. wouldn't you rather put some 12g buck-shot through him than waste a 5.56mm round on him? the 12g buckshot will drop him faster, and if you hit him center mass, it is highly unlikely he will get up.
