| Winner Winner Winner . Yes actaully sir you are correct . What gave it away . The M14 was invented by the United States Inventors . It was based on the design of John Garands of the semi automatic M1 Garand in 1957 . The United States invented this gun to keep up with Germany who had already had invented an Assault Rifle and Russia who had just invented Ak 47 just ten years earlier . The assault rifle was already just about thirteen or fourteen years old and the United States had invented one . This gun was just to good and it was quickley replaced with a synthetic material gun the M16 most soldiers grew to like this Matel 16 as they called it because they did not like the wieght or the feel of this new gun after getting used to tthhe M14 . This began the start of newer lighter and more durable guns . While the M14 was widely replaced it was still used throughout the Veitnam War and is still in combat today in The Middle East and Africa and some hunters even use this gun to hunt deer elk and other big game with like the Ruger Mini 16 and the Remington and others . This gun is probally on my top ten and top five of most favorite guns ever . This gun truly was a great great gun . | |

| Personally I find the uses of an SMG very limited on todays battlefield, basically I'm not a fan of a large pistol . But I would have to say that my favorite SMG would be the Mp5a4, classy, sleek, and sexy it set the standard for SMG's to come. I have a problem with the Kriss, basically I think it is an over complicated but well designed weapon. Stuff happens all the time that would make the Kriss only viable with PD units or combat units that consistently have access to very good cleaning/gunsmithing facilities(ie USAF PJ's, or a similar base oriented unit). sticks | |

| Well I don't know . Personally though I like the Thompson with its .45 Caliber Rounds . The nine milimeter round that the Mp 5 uses does lack stopping power but then again in fully automatic a .22 short could do the trick . So I guess the Mp 5 is pretty good . Have you seen the new Russian Submachine Gun . The whole forward grip is a barrel like drum magazine . | |

| It really dosent matter to me what caliber the bullet is. A .45 is just awsome fire power with the ability to knock somebody of there feet. The 9mm is week and has trouble penetrating body armor, but your not going to be able to tell the difference between a .45 and a 9mm when I put 2 in your chest and 1 in your head. | |

| Hold on hold on! How come everyone is calling it the STG-44 not the MP-44? It was invented by H&K and that is the correct name for it. Just like the MP-40 was the predecessor of the MP-5.. Now correct me is I'm wrong but was it Call of Duty World at War which made up the STG-44? Because that is the first time I have ever seen it called that... | |

| I always thought it was the Mp44 too, but H&K didnt produce. I may be wrong but I always thought H&K was a West German company that started after WW2. I could be wrong though..... I also think the Mp40 has no connection to the Mp5(I thought the Mp5 was based off of German innovation and the Thompson). Again I could be wrong about all of this stuff, I'm not good with SMG's . sticks | |

| It was invented in 1944, and has always been called the STG 44. STG stands for Sturgewehr, which in english is "storm rifle" or "assault rifle". In a sense, it was the worlds first assault rifle, and is considered the father of the AK. Mp44 is a new name for it, and it is not accurate because the stg44 was not a submachine gun, it was an assault rifle. | |

| Yeah as I said earlier in my posts . The German translation of it is STG 44 while we normally us the term Mp44 . | |
