How'd you get into airsoft?

I'd like to hear some storys how many people from around the world got into airsoft. If this is an unnecessary post then moderators you can delete it. But I was wondering, how did you get into airsoft? Write a story about it would like to hear. For me?

My friend bought his airsoft guns, and I was freaked out by them. I thought they were going to hurt as heck, and kill me or something. But i had a huge obsession with guns, and so when he got two spring desert eagles, we started shooting cans. After awhile, he told me these don't make you bleed just give you welts. I asked what a welt was (didn't know much back then) and he shot me in the shoulder, and showed me a welt he gave me. I got mad so i shot him, he ran, and the bb curved, and hit him in his head! We started mini airsoft wars, and I guess I like the adrenaline rush, and it calms me down too.

I got started a couple years back when I got a spring pistol from my dad.
I used it for gun handling and target practice in my backyard for quite a while.
One thing led to another and I find myself today, hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars dumped into the hobby and still getting the same rush on the field as I did poppin cans in my backyard.

My dad worked with a guy who played with his son(still does), a few weeks later we ordered a few spring guns from shortyusa.... That was back in Christmas of 02', and I ended up buying my first big boys airsoft gun in 05' from the same co-worker.

By far the largest sum of money I had ever spent up to that point. $312 for a TM M4, battery, smart and smart charger. I got a few STAR 30rnd mags and a speedloader for free too! Still have the speedloader(TM knows how to make a good speedloader), but the STAR mags crapped out on me a few years back.

I was planning a game of paintball over the summer of '07 with my buds, when they informed me of the existence of airsoft. The huge variety and ease of setup really made me start loving airsoft rather than paintball.

at my 11th birthday party, my friends convinced me to have a airsoft war. we all had those stupid battery-powered minimachine guns and spring pistols, and spent about 4 hrs playing. it was pathetic, but it was my first airsoft war. now we all have full-metal 450 fps airsoft AEGs, so it's a big change from the start.

when i was about 8 or 9 i got this terrible 90fps plastic spring pistol, but since i had never seen an airsoft gun, i prematurly began to think that i was invicible with it. a week later... it broke (of course). then i began to get better guns and start asking other people if they do airsoft to, as the list got longer, we started having wars. thats how i got into airsoft.

Well I started when my friend said something to me in Law class. I had never played before but I knew about it. So he invited me to a war that they were haveing and at first I was a little nervous about it. But as the day went on I FELL IN LOVE WITH AIRSOFT! We played at least 6 hours and I remember most of it......haha yeah. But anyway now I love it more than anything and I spend about 4 hours on my computer everyday looking at airsoft guns and posting on airsoft forums.

when my friend asked me to go to an airsoft party, (i was 5th or 6th grade) i asked him whats airsoft and so he told me. So...I started with a spring pistol like everyone else in the forum when they were beginners. There were almost 20 guys of my same age playing (my friend has a large connection). Long story short, my butt got whooped very bad

well, when i wasin fifth grade my friend got into it with a bunch of cheap springers. So at first i was like, um ok... then i started shooting with him and i was hooked. So whenever i went over to his house we always shot. One day while i was there this kid was walking to t he woods nearby all geared up n my bud asked him if there was a game planned. He said yes and that we could join in. So me n him run upstairs and get our sweatshirts on and i got a pair of work goggles and his cheap shot gun. We walk to the woods and play one 10 min round and i was in love. It was about 3 months after that that i bought my crosman remington wingmaster shotgun. Ah

got a cheap walmart auto baller shotgun, shot a few cans targets ect then got my m324s, learned the game got a friend into it (SCARR) then he got (BOOTIE) into it then he got his friends into it(BAD) (BADD) (BADDD) then learned that Its ILLEGAL IN THE VILLAGE!!!!!!!!!!! so I am going to need to talk to the village about that.....

It began in 2004 when my half-brother brought a 10.00 desert eagle and a sig-saur, both spring of course. And brought it over to our dads house. And so the journey began. From there the journey began. That weekend I bought a spring a colt 1911. Some of you might remember the post about my ole 1911 hitting the graveyard. Anyway that was the gun. We made bases and bunkers and had battles. We got shotguns and thought they were kings. The year moved on to 2005 and we were still into airsoft. We took a summer vacation to San Francisco. We came back to my home right above lake ponchatrain. We had a small skirmish the date Aug. 27 2005. That night we left all of our guns in the bunker. We go a weather report saying that there was a hurricane heading to the new Orleans area. It’s name Katrina, we had to evac to my dad’s FBI office. After we came back everything was destroyed. Including the bunkers, The only thing left was my 1911. I had to start over from there. Now every Aug. 27 we have a special airsoft skirmish. I began about 2007ish when talking with a friend for a while about it and how he played some filthy rich people in his neighborhood who had fully tuned systemas and a bunch of crazy airsoft stuff. So these stories struck some interest, later I hung out with this guy getting a team off the ground and he kind of introduced me to the whole ECHO 1 to Classic Army guns.

Now surprising I never bought a LPEG or springer. Another good friend of mine who lived in my neighborhood had a few of these and they WERE ALWAYS BREAKING. So pretty much when the money came and I had a good group to play with I bought my first gun JG G36C which I still have up and running to-date.

Now the forums, the first forum I came across was airsoftgunhelp.com which was ~ok~ I had a lot of help from that community starting out, but unfortunately the forum literally died. Everyone I knew there is gone to some other forum on teh interwebs or at the cesspools (ASF, ASR, or Arnies) no offense to anyone who frequents those forums. The staff just disappeared, but before they did they had they allowed ad-bots to post random nonsense and crap for money.

It was just this spring actually, when my (then) new good friend Jackofalltrades was putting together a camping trip at our local WW2 anti-ship installation. I already knew about airsoft, and decided to go out and buy a gun that day with him and another friend (who I'm now remembering still owes me $75 from that day) to advise me. I ended up getting a Cybergun/Softair AK-47 Spetsnaz from Big 5. Got a decent deal on it too, 'cause it was on clearance. It's not all metal, but it's sturdy enough, lightweight, and compact.

We played inside the halls of the bunker in almost complete darkness. Flashlights, headlamps, and strobes were the only viable method of target acquisition, as the echoes prevented any sort of sound source identification. I was usually one of the first out in the (i believe) four rounds we played, but I was hooked.

ah, okay, here we go. i had a friend nick-named Maffu whose older brother plays airsoft. he had/has loads of rifles and pistols. he has made a M249 SAW, and he must have spent about $1500 on his highly upgraded CA AUG. whenever he got a new pistol, he would test it on Maffu and i to see if he liked it or not. if Maffu squeeled in a really high voice, he liked it. if i began laughing, he liked it. so, this was my first introduction to the world of airsoft. i didn't get serious until about March of this year, though. i saw some kids on my street running around shooting each other with cheap springers and a few more expensive guns in front yards and in the street. so, i asked my dad to buy me a couple rifles from hobbytron (shun). basically, a crap stubby springer M4 from Well, and a handgun i had found for a dollar. and, my dad being the little kid he is, bought a Well springer MP7 to 'shoot that stupid Ethan kid off his bike'. (PM me for why he would do this)
the pistol broke within minutes of coming out of the box, and the MP7 broke within the next two days. only the M4 kinda works. i now use it to shoot pigeons off my roof and fence.
i began o do more research, and i watched many of scoutthedoggie's vids on youtube, and soon found this forum.
