Might I suggest the WELL MB04 or MB05? Only difference is that the MB05 has a retractable butt stock, (which isn't all to good)
I've had mine for about 4-5 months now and is shooting great. I just took it out to shoot and measure out about 178 feet to my tree and shot it, hits it about 3/5 times, it definitely has the range, the only problem is that when it is out that far that the wind affects it and makes it curve a bit to the left or right. You can easily hit a man sized target to 150'.
Shoots apparently 450 to 500 fps or higher, I do not know, but with the poor man's chrono, I shot it through 2 cans and into the 3rd one with a large dent in the end of the 3rd. It is a great gun and I highly suggest it.

all are very well upgradeable, in fact i was just looking and the utg96, well96 and well mb05 have the same internals. I was looking into upgrading mine and found this, it is really expensive but he completely upgraded to shooting 450 with .36 bb's out to 300 feet with his utg l96, cost him about 1000 to do it but hey its awesome heh. Stock all of these guns are great seeing as they all have the same internals, other than the bar-10, but that is also a very good gun for beginners.

Upgraded UTG L96 page..

jg bar 10, and nothing besides it. You will never have trouble finding upgrade parts for it.

I agree with dj. The BAR-10s can be upgraded on a fairly low budget to be a top of the line sniper rifle.
