| Well I have recently found a place to play airsoft and now have an airsoft team. The only problem is that they are coming to me and asking me what positions they should have (sniper,rifleman,machine-gunner etc.) and I was wondering are there any qualities that a person should have before getting into there position? | |

| Well a sniper would most likely need patience. Others who lack patience or like action may be a flanker/machine-gunner. To really find out what position a person should be you need to play a some practice rounds and see how everyone plays--then you can see what positions everyone should fulfill. | |

| tell them to play whatever position that their gun would fall under. you can't be a sniper without a sniper. and you can't be a machine-gunner without a machine gun. plus (weapons aside) it would be smarter to deside when the time comes. not ahead of time. | |

| Well if they're asking you what guns they should get, here's a good guideline to think of:
Squad Automatic Gunners (Light Machine Gun) - This will usually be bigger guys with the strength to lug around a heavy gun with heavy equipment for the length of a match. Taller guys with bulk (hopefully it'll be muscle) are best here.
Riflemen (Automatic Rifle) - This is your standard soldier. Expect to pick at least 1/2 of your squad to be riflemen.
Sniper / Designated Marksman (Sniper Rifle, DMR) - Hopefully your Sniper/Spotter team will be substantially more quiet than your standard Rifleman, have the strength and endurance to move over uneven terrain with all their equipment and a long-rifle, and be sure that your sniper buys a legitimate sniper rifle and knows how to shoot it. (Accurately)
Engineer / Demolition? (Shotgun? Submachine Gun?) - This is a completely optional role in a squad. It can be useful, but its something I've wanted to try. If you were to buy some of those Airsoft Claymores and Grenades, you could create a force to be reckoned with. Short guys with muscles are desirable, considering they've got to be able to move around (possibly) in tight spaces, but need to carry large amounts of equipment and airsoft "explosives" on their person.

Micr0mac is absolutely correct, being a good sniper would in most cases require some patience, as well as being an above average shot. Although it is my belief that anyone who applies themselves can learn to act as a good sniper/spotter. It is not a position one should start out in, especially if they are new to airsoft. It is also my belief that anyone who is a "glory seeker" should not be a sniper. A sniper must sometimes allow enemies to move away from him, so that he can relay information to his team mates, and anyone who will just start shooting to "get others out" will just endanger himself and his spotter needlessly. I won't do it right this second, but in a day or two I will PM (If you want me to do so that is) you a few scenarios I have thought of that are designed to help train a sniper in various aspect of what I believe incorporates their "job." If anyone else would also like the scenarios, please PM me and I'll send them to you too, but keep in mind that these are just little training exercises that I have thought of, some with help, that should help snipers.

| Well bees here my reccomendation. I found one other real airsofter in my area everyone else was a plinker but some willing to try real airsoft. I took all my members and just split them regardless of gun or experience i sent them to fight on their own. I played as a ref and watched how people played. Two of them took to DMing as well as heavy riflemaning. One took to being a gunner and the rest turned out to just play as an infantryman. Sped is my gunner Boston and Bigfoot are now my two DMs and ghost, JARHEAD, and Don't use the Lord's name in vain. turned out as rifleman. Don't use the Lord's name in vain. alreeady informed me of his wishing to snipe so he was set. as for everyone else they enjoy and play the classes ive placed them in well. Bottom line. Take all your members. Split them into two teams You play as a ref and watch how they act.
I find gunners like throwing lots of fire as well as taking it they are also strong and show leadership
As for a DM look for that guy in the back taking shots at guys accuratly
for your rifleman just look for your averge guy up on the front lines doin wat he can to win
As for a sniper ask for a few voulenteers and go through training anyone who can't do it will wash out or be kicked.
