| Dear members of the forum, The time has come once again where my dad thinks i am outgrowing airosft, after the incident with the failure ak47 magazine he doesnt trust airsoft anymore. He told me that after my current airsoft guns break that i cannot get anymore, so, airsoft is no longer going to be a hobby of mine in about a year or two. But, just because i will not have anymore personal experience with airsoft, i still know alot about it. I will still visit the forum, but i will no longer be a player of airsoft. If you post just to give me advice about how to reverse this, then don't, because his mind is made, there is no changing it. After the guns i have now break i will have no more, i might not even get to go to ops. anymore. Ill repost when my guns actually break but until then nothing has changed, this is just a note in advance for you to not to wonder why youll be seeing me less.

| Well, there are two ways in which you can still airsoft.
The first is through exercising and working out with your team. If your dad sees you lifting weights, running, doing abdominal workouts for the sake of air-soft, maybe he will believe the sport is good and healthy for you (Which in my opinion it is). Also, you need to tell him, air-soft gets you out of the house, it lets you meet new people and it is fun. It's not that you are too old for it, but that you aren't old enough to do many of the more sophisticated air-soft ops without being driven by someone else (I'm assuming you are 13 based on panic324's post).
Naturally, your dad will see air-soft as airsofting a deterrent for school, so you'll need to keep things like grades up so that your dad doesn't target (Believe me, whenever my grades used to drop, my parents targeted the computer).
The second method is when you turn 18, you may still be living with your parents for a few more years, but by then you will more than likely have a job, money, a car, and be able to make most if not all of your own choices.
So don't give up ^_^ believe me, any parent can be changed from a decision, and no one knows how better than their kids. And if that really doesn't work, then 18 isn't that far away. For me it seems like I was 10 yesterday, now I'm 20.

| Like Techno, Metal, tuner cars, and videogames, airsoft is just another thing that many parents don't seem to understand. They seem to think it's just some stupid thing we'll grow out of. Airsoft can be just as much of a sport as baseball. But, then it's more comparable in cost to skiing or riding, but I digress. If you take it seriously and treat it as a sport, most parents will be more willing to accept it, especially if you compare it to a sport they play/played. | |

| stay strong, ncis, stay strong. "Watch your language", if you want, ask your father very politely to join you on the forum some time, just to see the people who airsoft. good christ, most of the airsofters here are in their teens! you just barely started your teens! | |

"Techno, Metal, tuner cars," "Techno," I thought I was the only one!!!!! Today is a great day!!!! NCIS: I agree with AFU, you could even go as far as too have you dad play with you! Also, try too explain you love for the game too him. If none of this works you could just threaten him with resorting too video games every day! sticks

| You should take up another sport too. Since Airsoft is a relatively new hobby and most people don't consider it a sport, your dad is probably worried that you're not getting active enough. Playing something else will probably help get him off your back. | |

| nah, it not that, he knows i get out alot and i do, i ride my bike, run, play football, go to the gym with him, and alot more stuff all the time. he just thinks that like all the things i played with when i was little, that i will just outgrow this, plus he just doesnt like the complications of running everywhere to find things and all | |

| Let him watch a few videos by scotthedoggie.
Let him see that airsoft is not a little childs game to be grown out of, but a real sport that takes dedication.

| Moved to General Airsoft. I agree with AFU, as long as you pick one that doesn't use too graphic of language for your fathers likings | |

| As long as he's not a sissy liberal like my parents who is morally opposed to guns, your persuasion will be a lot easier. I didn't even get my first gun till the end of Freshman year after several years of wearing them down. | |

| Why don't you just make sure your gun doesn't break? Clean it a lot and stuff like that, it only needs to last about 5 years. | |

My dad is an Ex-Marine, and I have only ever been in one fight with him in my life. I lost, if anyone was wondering (Pretty fast too). That doesn't mean I wouldn't do it again, or if it ever comes to it, that I won't willing get back into the arena. ^_^ I am not saying defy your father, but don't give up either, slowly but surely a child can wear down their parents to accept anything. No one knows how to manipulate a person like their children.

2, How often would you Play ?
3, and this is the Biggie, Have you ever gotten in trouble with DAD for shooting your gun at something or somebody you were not suposed to ?
