sniper needing an AEG Empty
PostSubject: sniper needing an AEG   sniper needing an AEG Icon_minitimeWed Jul 02, 2008 3:53 pm

ok i was playing airsoft last Sunday with my friends and his dad who is an x-marine. So i was the sniper and i had a sweet spot so i took a shot and nailed the dad in the head and he started to unload on me and his son did too with AEG'S. I NEED an aeg that i can carry around that is small but i still can lay down some fire when getting pinned down. i have an L96 and i modifed it but not enough. So what AEG is good enough for me that is small but has a good kick for around 50-120 bucks and can take some abuse. Please answer soon.

The answer is going to be an Echo 1. They're reliable, look great, shoot great, and are around your price range. You'll still be limited if $120 is your highest, but they make cheaply priced rifles for around there. If you could spend up to $150, you'd be in much better shape. The fact is though you get what you pay for. If you only spend $75 on a gun, chances are that it's not going to be a real spectacular gun. Look at some JG guns as well.

The Well version of the Mp7 might be worth looking at as well. I believe it's only $90 at Airsplat.com right now.

Hey, great question and welcome to the forums. I almost didn't read this b/c I thought it was another "which sniper" thread that somebody posted before researching the question on our forums a little.

I must say that Echo 1 is probably your best bet, but you will have to spend a little over your budget to get one. The thing is (in my opinion) if you spend a little bit more now on such a gun you will have an extra piece of mind and know with a fair amount of certainty that your gun is great quality and reliable. To me it is worth it. Just research it yourself first.

If you find some guns that you want to ask everybody about, just copy and paste a list of the links on this thread and we will give you our opinions, just remember to make up your own mind in the end.

Happy shopping, be careful, and good luck Smile

MP - 10 or MP - 5 guns are small , compact and AEGS capable of laying down some serious fire but your spotter should be backing you up any way , try a Co2 pistol semi automatic can help a lot too and is a whole of a lot cheaper too .

That's a good point. Actually two good points, both about the spotter and pistol. However many snipers aren't fortunate enough to have spotters. Plus sidearms, whether an AEG or Gas, are always good for snipers to have for sticky situations (ex. spotter gets taken out). Maybe you would want to consider a pistol sidearm though. They're easier to carry around with your actual primary rifle, are reliable, cheaper to buy and maintain, and still can lay down some fire long enough for you to get the heck out of there!! I have a feeling if you buy an AEG as your sidearm you'll end up using it more than you'd think. For the most part, at least in my experiences, AEGs are a little more "comforting" to use than bolt-action rifles because you know if your first shot doesn't make contact you have plenty more rounds to quickly fire off. So you might find yourself gravitating towards using an AEG (if you bought one) over your actual rifle. But if you had a nice compact pistol this wouldn't be the case. It'd be exactly what you need it to be - a sidearm. It'd only be there when your rifle is no longer going to do the trick for you. But then again, that's just my opinion.

Agreed, a gun that is small and easy to handle and carry as a secondary must be stressed here. Most of these guns despite their differences from longer guns, will have nearly identical functional stats such as range, FPS, and accuracy. You need something that would hold you back from your role, so make sure it is light weight, small, and easy to access in a hurry. This could also be accomplished in a good sling, holster, or sheath.

Try some of these guns they are cheap and only fire 100 shots I have had one but it broke and they do break really easily but what you use it for it should last and a=Admin and Roamer are also right if you do not have a spotter pistols would be a better side arm so you do not get used to using it more than you do your rifle because there will be times where that rifle of your is not your best friend and some times it will be ,

this one isn't all that fast, but if u upgrade it, then it should go pretty fast. it looks cool, too. and it comes with a lot of different attachments!

EDIT: here are some more:
this is probably not even an option, but i like it and want to get it! My favorite! Better than the L96! (L96 right after this!

This one is cool, but the stock may/may not be a problem.

This one looks really good for something that you are looking for. maybe not price but...

And these two are just really cool!!!

lol gunny that is not a back up at all a saw is used for spraying down hundreds of bullets, plus there expensive.echo ones are a little big for backup. heres a link for my back up its really small but its full metal so it might be a little heavy, it holds 500 rounds though so its a pretty decent AEG

I do not recommend this gun for what you're looking for. This is just like the clear plastic UZIs you find at Walmarts, just painted solid black. I say never pay under $90 for an airsoft gun in 98% of cases unless you're just looking for a gun to play around your house with. Also, never buy a gun that in the description they say "Unique, Highgrade, and Cute plastic airgun" like in this example Smile

Also, Inferno mentioned the G3 SAS - we're getting there, but still not quite what you need. I won't get into this gun too deeply, but why go for something like this as a backup when you can get a nice, full-metal pistol for the same price that is better suited to your needs?

This is a cheap solution, however, and if they break then you are not out of too much money , Admin is right though and a gun over 90 dollars is a better bet.
